I have no idea how some people do Santorini by cruise. I went for the first time last month and flew there and stayed in a nice hotel at Oia. Was a much better experience. Just seeing the people in the morning when I came back from coffee was just plain crazy. I would never recommend anyone go to Santorini that way.

I enjoyed the piano. I know nothing of Greek history over the last 2000 years except that maybe 600 years ago the Ottomans invaded the place. I'm probably wrong but over the last millenia or so, did Greek people take much interest in the ancient history of that area or were they too busy trying to survive? The Ottomans, well they just used ancient and beautiful structures for target practice. People accuse the English of being thieves but if some of these things weren't rescued they wouldn't be here today. And, yes, I liked the piano.

Hello! Will be in Santorini in August with a cruise line. How will I know walking directions from port to bus stop?
@pauligle3 ай бұрын
With a cruise line you won't miss it as you need to take the cable car from cruise port to Fira or just walk the stairs. Once at Fira ask someone for the Fira main bus terminal or even the cruise crew as it's very easy to go. It's only a 10 mins walk.

Nice big up of the amazing Tranquilo Bar in Perissa. But to be clear, you absolutely CANNOT view the sunset from Perissa or Perivolos, as it’s the wrong side of the island (east) and the mountain of Profitis Ilias is in the way. Also, please don’t encourage people to visit Red Beach as it’s dangerous with rock falls! Look at this video and see how precarious the rocks above the beach are.

This was at around 4pm in October. But it really depends on when the cruise ships arrive. Unfortunately you may have to wait more than 1 hour to get to Fira but you can definitely walk the stairs. It's really not that bad and you can take your time and do it slowly. You will also enjoy some stunning views the way up. One of the biggest experience in my life! I was very excited, almost getting high by watching these treasures I could only read about previously. It was very moving like being in love at first sight. (Some negative remarks: there were fiercly fighting junkies besides the museum, that was frightening, and in the cantin they did not accept card, my cash was 10 cent shorter than the price so the ugly witch did not sell the sandwich after a long day.)

The museum itself is not in the best area of Athens unfortunately but it does have some of the most incredible items in Europe. On a positive note, there are already plans in place for a complete transformation of the whole neighbourhood along with a new extension for the museum.
