Great toy. I cycle here often. 6 years and no comments..it seems these showing places vids dont raise the much interest. I did a few a while back now.(you can see them click my blue c thing).i was maybe to fond of what it could do , over zoom etc. what drone did you have..a lot of them seem to need the internet in phone while filming..which sort of stopped me getting a drone. You can see all the views from any angle on google maps now. I would make these for a hobby, dont know enough about what to buy.
@AndysVideoАй бұрын
Let me start by saying if you go to www.andysvideo.com and then go down to the playlist 'Aerial Footage (UK and abroad)' it is amazing how some videos do get lots of comments and others don't. I guess it is all down to the subject and that bit of the solent is not that interesting! Regarding buying the drone if you avoid the Toy ones most of the cheaper ones are good value, but I have always purchased DJI because of their reliability and so if you do want to try - I suggest you find a second or third hand one on Ebay and join the BMFA so you get the free members insurance. Then practise a lot away from everyone and as long as you, friends and family enjoy the results that really is all that matters. Lastly there is nothing wrong with the videos on your page, I enjoyed them.

At an airshow at Turnhouse many years ago an incoming BEA pilot decided to demonstrate the short landing capabilities of the Vanguard. He came in on runway 13, performed a three point landing and used full reverse thrust and max braking and stopped in time to take the first left turn to the terminal building.

I love seeing cars like this getting some real attention. The attention they were made to get. Not just putting around or sitting stagnant. And OMG I’d love to drive those cars on that oval!! So lucky. Looks north of 100mph in south some spots.

I remember this type operating out of RAF Lindholme in the 1960's. They moved across to RAF Finningley circa 1969 when the Vulcans left.

On the opposite end of the financial spectrum - the small section of runway left at Brooklands to enable landings was dug up in 2004 to make a small racing track for Mercedes Benz World clients

Born in Kingston 1963 Castle street then my poor parents were put onto the Cambridge Estate 1969 wasn't as bad as people made out you drove passed my local pub the Cambridge arms near where the police car was i had great times then I think it that the a Polytechnic in those days My children went to Kingston university Just a note if you went spraying stuff on people today you'd be arrested so sad really brilliant vid

I was still running National Rescue next door to the Cambridge estate in 1969 and had the odd drink in the arms too. All changed there now though

The runway was long enough when they were built and flown to Wisley for completion. Why should an empty aircraft have a problem returning home.
@AndysVideo2 ай бұрын
Because that was then - but when the Vanguard returned, the runway had been cut roughly in half by the new road Wellington Way. This was the road that trees had been otherside off that were removed.

Does anybody know where I can get an image of the track superimposed on a modern map? I've tried to imagine where the track lies on google maps using clues like the railway line, the museum and the roundabout, but it's difficult. Some WW2 RAF airfields have been superimposed on modern maps like one close to where I live. Cheers.

Fantastic video! I can imagine the old aircraft-engined cars thundering down the straights and around the banking. Don't be sad about the state of the circuit people. Think of it like the Colosseum in Rome which has been left in original condition for thousands of years.
@AndysVideo2 ай бұрын
Wise word indeed, at least we still have some of it and unlike the days of Rome, much film footage of how it was when new.

IT should be LAW if you are on a Dual Carriageway or Motorway & anything on the Shoulder you move out to the next lane by law anyone failing to do so should be fined £250 pounds & 4 points if you fail to do so. I always move out to the next lane if I come across anything on the side of the carriage way.

That landing spoilt fireman Sam's day. Spot on landing, burst of reverser, then flap and airbrake retraction before it had stopped.

I was at East Midlands Airport when they practice short landings. We even marked up the runway at EMA for their practice landings. When they were happy with their landings they then flew the aircraft to Brooklands. Very good pilots!

This is something the older generation can hold dear to their hearts (absolutely no insult intent) of being able to fly in prop planes, like me when i flew with Malaysia airways of a 747 (as a passenger) soon after they were scrapped. Loved going to Brooklands museum.

In 1959, we lived there, but there was no Regiment in the barracks, it was used as overflow accommodation, my dad was stationed at Pirbright, just as the Guards depot at Caterham had moved from there. Went to Stoughton boys school which was a short walk away, always late🤷♂️🤷♂️The WRAC barracks was at the back.

A fantastic video documentary. How sad that we get so excited about Saxon, Roman , Norman relics but we can't preserve such an icon of British motor engineering history without building commercial premises on it. Well done to all the volunteers for providing, to my mind, the best example of what made Britain, Great Britain.
