I love that symbol of the oil becoming a part of us, thank you. 🤗 It so true that then and even now they were looking for the Messiah to come and deliver them from all their enemies. What we don't always realize is our greatest enemy is in the spiritual realm, the same enemy Adam and Eve encountered in the garden. John says prepare the way for THAT enemy to be defeated. Expose his works through self-examination, confess the part we played in the fall and our need for Jesus to save us from ourselves. He does 🤗, may His name be praised forever, Amen.

"If we confess our sins we receive forgiveness"... we often forget that. I can forgive and love all but sometimes to protect yourself you must also guard your heart and love them from a distance.

Then why does God ignore me?
@barbarafenton177519 сағат бұрын
What makes you think He is ignoring you Mark?
@markantonelli5319 сағат бұрын
@ I’ve never experienced what one should experience after one prays that shows you God heard you. By process of elimination that means I’m always ignored.
@strivingforheaven19 сағат бұрын
If God is ignoring you, then you're probably asking for the wrong things, for the wrong reasons, and in the wrong way. God loves all of us and wants the best for us. The problem that most of us have, myself frequently included, is that we want is best for ourselves according to our interpretation of what is best, not God's absolute knowledge of what is best for us. Keep praying, but include prayers for God's guidance, not prayers for what you expect, and you will, in all likelihood, begin to see your prayers answered.
@markantonelli5319 сағат бұрын
@ so asking God for the desire to read the Bible and the ability to understand it when I do are the wrong things to ask for?
@markantonelli5318 сағат бұрын
@ or what about asking for God to show me His presence in a way that I would undeniably know it was Him? You’re saying that’s also the wrong thing to ask for?

My brother, a diocesan priest, and his best friend, another diocesan priest, both recently retired, now experiencing doubt, heartbreak, near despair... looking back under 24/7 active and present ministry of readily available to their parishioners Reverend liturgies actively engaged in the sacraments and building families, throwing their hearts and souls into their homilies and spreading the message of Jesus... Now realizing or at least feeling that it was for not." It just didn't take' they said. "No matter how hard we tried, no matter how beautiful and true the message, it seemed to have no effect -- people sat through our Reverend liturgies and the happy or sad sacraments, Sunday Mass, holydays holidays, eucharist, walked out totally unchanged. They went ahead with their arguments and abuse, their material focus on a focus on entertainment and sports and shopping, accumulation of money. "Everything we did just didn't take. Christianity is so attractive but it wasn't attractive enough. We tried so hard. We seemed to have no effect". My heart broke. Fr Mike, should I say " God doesn't judge you on how successful you were; he judges you on how much you loved and how hard you tried!"

Jesus would have been born around April at the time when Joseph & Mary went to pay their taxes. But it doesn't really matter when we celebrate HIS birth because in our heart 💔 we celebrate HIM everyday.

God doesn't share his blessings with everybody, just his elect that he loves, the rest of us have been abandoned by him. 😔😔
@kathyglover7994Күн бұрын
Ask this question instead... has God really abandoned me, or have I abandoned Him when I do not keep His 10 commandments? Adam and Eve only had one commandment to keep, and they couldn't do it...10 seems kind of daunting, but...if you start with the first one and honor it, then you can work on the rest bit by bit... good way to get to heaven...❤
@Roman-LabradorКүн бұрын
@@kathyglover7994 Yes he has abandoned me, I am still here praying to him and following him. Now what do you have to say? Exactly, you are speaking rubbish, just like all the other blessed catholics.

Happy new year Father Mike. Thats a funny st. Faustina's quote. I pray for Gods blessing on my enemies or people who ever hurt me( it needs to be properly understood). So that they they wont go on doing what they do, but repent and convert , find God. That it would benefit their soul. Thats how I understand it. Ive read it somewhere. I pray for Gods blessing on the priests I know or follow and religious. God bless.

Amen. Thank you so much🤗!! May the Lord bless you too as you continue to make known His salvation and His ways (Psalm 67:2)💖 I love this homily and your guidance to bless our family. Today with the shepherds I want to glorify and praise God for all that I have seen and heard🤗 What stands out most for me today is when studying the genealogy of Jesus we see how Jesus came to break patterns of sin within the family. It strikes me that his first mission really is to heal the family 🤗 and I bless him! Manasseh sacificed his children to the fire and was considered the worst type of sinner yet when he repented, God forgave him and made him one of the ancestors of Jesus. Abba Father, as we begin this new year, please set us on fire for our families. That we may love them, may bless them, and pray, pray, pray until we see new life springing forth for Your glory and praise, through Jesus, Amen.
