20 years ago I had the vst ReBirth RB-338 synthesizer. he was the ultimate Accid synthesizer at the time. You could produce the same cool sounds with it

@va941 yep. Dont get me wrong, I'm always looking for a sale, but given the relative prices when I started buying synths in the 80s, and today's issues with chip manufacturing and supply chain, it's not too bad.

Price make no sense. How could a module with no keys and no pitch and mod wheel be almost the same price as the keyboard version. Look at how far wrong the korg neo is priced.

Not wortb 1200 cad . Asking way too much . Seems to be the below 1000 us target . 700 cad gets you the whole arturie library . These ardrino driven vsts are a scam . I know . I bought a wavestate . I love it . And it was not 1200 $

Subjectively, for the voicing, FX and what it can do, I would say it is worth it. If you compare it to its vst counterpart, then maybe the hardware isn’t for you. I see the plugin as an added benefit. You could buy a Peak or a Sequential synth and pay $2000+ CAD. I like the price tag but use it with a ViewSonic Touchscreen for tactile use. However, the features for what you can reach for on the hardware unit, will be useful tool for a lot of people.

You have to use the "blue hand" in ableton and configure to map the parameters you want to control in the plugin, then they show automatically on the Keystage.

I’m waiting for Korg Collection 6 with the Kronos engine as an overall wrapper like Roland Galaxias, but with Karma and access to all Korg plugins as different sound engines… and then I want a Korg Workstation Controller… pretty much a MIDI controller that would look just like a Kronos/Oasys, with faders, knobs, pads, touchscreen, I/O, but directly integrated as a hardware controller for the Korg Collection 6 software… This is the only path for Korg if they want to stay relevant in the future.

Emlyn, great review mate! Perfect way to reverse engineer / dissect and to give you context to what standard & producing is required commercially in 2024 to be on par! Perfect example to show that buying expensive VST is not everything, just knowing Ableton’s features can propel your sound! Well done Emlyn!

If you turn on MIDI ADVANCED you get all tracks playing. If you have MIDI set to EASY tracks play individually...

Yes if the buffer is down low it was clipping a bit and having a go on the cpu load. However if you raise the buffer runs really well on the M1 mac which is a few years old now.

I have this new one and the old nano key and strange enough, I prefer the touch of the old one. You have to press kind of hard on this one. It’s cool to travel with though

Yea if you got a studio full of hardware synths it’s awesome! But yea for vocals not really designed for that. Although you could run some vocals through some hardware effects through it. Sky’s the limit really!

This is definitely an improvement on the original, but the best MIcroKorg version is still the MS 2000. There isn't really much innovation here other than a new screen. I think the Hydrasynth Explorer is a much better option at a similar price point.
