Hakuho has shown that being Yokozuna is following the way of a warrior. Hakuho did like Miyamoto Musashi told in his teachings. That's why Hakuho had 63 consecutive wins almost like Musashi's 62.

Not too many foreigners are aware of the fact that the foreigners like Hakuho & Assashoryu ( both from Mongolia ) have been unspeakably & horrifyingly discriminated in Japan but should you be European sumo wrestlers, then they are much better off or on the contrary, they have been treated utterly opposite way like beloved rock stars, & that is an unwavering actual fact ( Japanese love for White people is beyond imagination & even comprehension, or they have been truly adulated, respected & even adored those European White race so much so that a great number of people who are rich enough to pay to their expensive plastic surgeons undergo their face to look like the White race or ay least a half White person, & yes, indeed, there exist plastic surgeons who specialize to make you look like the White people w/ the roundish big yes, a pointed nose, a slightly jutted chin, & finally reduction of high cheek bones most of Japanese possess!!! Regrettably & haplessly Japan is one of the most racist country in the whole world against foreigners or utterly XENOPHOBIC, esp. worst against Mongoloid or Asian people. This is sadly the unwavering & uncompromising fact about Japan, cuz they consider themselves as the chosen people!!!,,,,Thanks for reading my lengthy comment,,,,,Btw, I have watched numerous Japanese documentaries. I'll welcome any comments should you have a different opinions. (08/08/24)

When you see other sumo wrestlers record, even greats, they win 60% of the time, like 600 wins vs 400 loses. Hokuho was like 1100 wins vs 250 loses, it’s just insane. It would be comparable to a basketball player shooting 80% while other top players hit 50%

As a mixed blood Japanese I can totally get what Hakuho is up against. When its like this against you and you are Japanese, and your children too…you realize that the life struggle is all yours, and it seems like its against a whole mindset or culture. Respect to him

Watching his rehab on his knee really brings it home - with combat sports in general the training and injury recovery is often the hardest part.

He was initially displaying passion for the sport and wanted to be loved by the Japanese, but disappointments constantly tore him down and he always swallowed up his feelings. Thats how he eventually built his own resolve and philosohpy of what sumo is because he has no other option left: "Do everything for the results in the ring." What forced him to this? Many just don't see what is actually behind the scenes, and dare to launch insults.

On the Hakuo-Kisenosato rematch controversy. why would Hakuo criticize the referee/gyoji who had awarded him the match. The ones he would have been criticizing were the 5 judges/shimpan on the floor, and the judges in the replay booth. For the record, the judges who are also sumo elders have held foreigners to higher standards than native Japanese rikishi. Recently, those sumo elders stripped Hakuo/Miyogino of control of his stable after a bullying incident, even though other stables had incidents of bullying and there weren't the nearly the same level of punishment.

I didn’t expect Asashoryu to say such nice things about Hakuho. They were fierce rivals for years, and if not for a biased JSA they would have been for many more.

They were like brothers off the ring. THey knew each other in ulaanbaatar as children before they come to Japan. Their fathers also knew each other who competed in a same sports. THe fathers used to call each other before Hakuha vs Asashoryu bout and bet each other's son. Those information was disclosed in a mongolian documentary about hakuho
@scottgordon89022 ай бұрын
I have seen this documentary a few years ago.. now in the future you can see Hakuho was never wanted or appreciated by the JSA or NHK.. now that he isnt competing they do everything they can do eradicate him from the sport. After everything he did for the sport the JSA should be ashamed of themsleves .. just a bunch of old clown A$$es.. good news is they can never take his legacy away.. he is forever cemented in Sumo history no matter how much they try to bury him. The future of sumo is dim with such dim wits in charge
