"Just posting weird synth stuff that might be of interest to someone on the internet somewhere. " That alone would have earned you my subscription. Synth how to , and general synth nerding is 90% of what i use KZbin for, and the fact that youre showing us a really interesting piece of Dark Ambient sound design , instead of mediocre techno etc makes your channel even more awesome.

Ah, that's super kind of you to say. It's been a lot of fun posting stuff and connecting with others who share similar tastes. KZbin is great for that kind of connection. I literally don't know anyone in real life who's interested in synths.

@riotbell536524 күн бұрын
Honestly, I can't remember. I want to say no, based on the way the cables are running out of the Matriarch (I normally run a reverb right next to the machine). If I did it was the Oto Bam, which remains the only reverb I use on any of these pieces.

Thanks! It's a really quirky machine. I think it works best to treat it as an explorative device. Start fiddling around and see what happens and proceed from there. I hate the "happy accident machine" label, but it's not too far off base.

these are great! I'm a bit of a synth newbie,. how are you achieving the "hamondaise" sound? is it the noise LFO shape modulating the... filter?
@riotbell53652 ай бұрын
Honestly I can't really remember the specifics of this patch. I normally apply a very low amount of random wave LFO to the filter to create a subtle variance for organish sounds. I think that's what's going on here, but can't be 100 percent sure.

@@riotbell5365 Yepp, I got one now, the price was irresistable at Thomann. I was afraid that it would be "noisy"...but I don't hear any such things, a pleasant surprise there, lol. I just wish they went with a more modern user interface with proper buttons and display...and with a Kaoss pad, lol. Another thing...I respect the hard work people put into patch programming, I used to donate and purchase for a reasonable price...but too many people setting a very high price, which they have the right to do...but it seems they only want to sell ONE set, lol. I'm not going to buy 100 Pro 800 sounds for 25-35 USD. It's a pity that they can set a correct price, thye could sell more with a lower amount. The point is that I used to buy Ram memory cards for my Roland D50, with patches, they could cost 20-30 USD, a hardware RAM with patches.

My two dream instruments in one video. How wonderful! Not many people are able to generate really good music with either of these units, but you've obviously developed a unique passion for both. Thank you so much for sharing this. It almost like something Brian Eno would do with tape loops. How did you get it to play back notes? Is the delay THAT good?
@riotbell53654 ай бұрын
That's very kind of you. Brian Eno's early work is one of my primary inspirations when putting together these types of pieces. Love the textures and the layering he was able to accomplish with such rudimentary gear. I'm looping via a Microcosm which is off screen.

Hi. You can connect any eurorack module to the matriarch? Ffor example, a sampler/recorder module, with some recorded sound and play it on the matriarch?
@riotbell53655 ай бұрын
Yes and no. You can run any instrument into the Matriarch provided you have an instrument cable with a 1/4 inch jack (Instrument-In). I've got an Intellijel audio interface module which can convert eurorack signal into line/instrument level. Thus I can run a eurorack sampler like the Assimil8tor into the Matriarch to take advantage of the filter/delay. Hope that helps.

@@riotbell5365 "Thus I can run a eurorack sampler like the Assimil8tor into the Matriarch to take advantage of the filter/delay." could you make a video doing this please? )
@riotbell53655 ай бұрын
@@sashaatree6535 That's actually exactly what's going on in this video. The bass line was recorded with the Matriarch and sampled into the Assimil8tor and looped back into the Matriarch via the Instrument-In. The randomized sequencing is taking place in real time on the Matriarch and the sounds are blended together and sent through the stereo outs of the Matriarch to an audio interface linking up the DAW for final recording.
