Nice video and thanks for that. Being in the 40's and wanting a car that is good in the track and socializing and have high reliability, then I think a Porsche 911 would be the best fit. I would consider this car as a classic JDM legend that needs special care and to be driven in the weekends. If I would buy one, I would make it a garage queen.

Not only is the f80 a better looking car it certainly will hold its value over the g80! yes the g80 is quick reliable (so far) I’ve had my f80 4 years daily driver mods does 190mph bullet proof tbh won’t be buying the new one that’s for sure.

Many Thanks for the video, very engaging and informative, I watched the whole thing. I'm also the father of a young child and currently own an F30 330D, looking to buy an F80. There are so many conflicting reports on this car online about it's suitability as a daily driver. Many say the non competition is better in that regard and the competition is way too harsh. Have your kids or partner ever complained about the ride quality? Are there ever times when you've found it too much? Also is the car fun at low speeds as well or does it feel like a regular 3 series?

Lovely car, few corrections. The F8x series had a few special editions, They were : M4, M4 competition, M4 CS, M4 GTS and M4 DTM champion edition. There was no CSL availabile in the F8 chassis. The roll cage on the GTS is not for compliance to anything other than allowing people to safely use them on a track. But it was an option at the dealer to have the roll cage or rear seats fitted.

I’m not joking when I say this is probably the best car in the world to own right now. Tuneable, metzger engine, classic looks, appreciable value, more ‘fixable’ and less expensive that PDK later models and more reliable that air cooled 993’s etc. sold my M4 years ago to buy one - pretty much a straight swap at the time. In Australia the M4 is worth around 60-70k AUD now and the 997 valued at around 200-230k. Get one if you can and please don’t underestimate the Tiptronic!

All great points. I think it’s the best looking modern 911 . The portions is perfect . The new 911s are just to big. I do want to ask you how you liked the 3.4 motor in your first 991? It doesn’t get a lot of attention? Did you feel it was under powered? I one a 2005 gt silver Carrera and absolutely love the 3.6. To me it’s plenty fast enough for me. Thx

I really liked how the new M2 and M3 drove and figured a new M2 is what I was going to get next. Got to take one out in the mountains of NC. I also did one of those M track days and got a day in a G80. Can't do the screen. Not on my weekend/get an hour out of the house by myself car. Bought a Cayman and love it. Mid engine is so much fun. Looked very hard at the Evora GT but ultimately just too much work, but the drive is so so good. Had an E36M3 and C5Z prior, Golf R as well. 718s still feel like a drivers car, just enough tech, buttons. 4 Cyl is under rated and turbo that pulls to redline. I'm at 430ish WHP with just hi flow cat/tune and likely what Porsche would tune it at if they didn't want to step on the 911. They are also the only Porsche that has depreciated so there are deals out there.

The days of BMWs being thought of as 'drivers cars' are at an end. European cars were once the pinnacle of engineering, now they have become boring, ugly, heavy, and basically not at all desirable. Even Porsche has lost the plot, very sad.

Which generation M car do think was the last drivers car?
@tonydargon3918
@tonydargon3918 5 ай бұрын
@@AttheApex that's up for debate i guess. I've driven the current M spec BMW, while it is certainly a nice car, i would argue that it is not a true sports car in the classic sense. Personally i would say the 1990s was the most exciting era for true drivers cars in general, maybe I'm just too old but it seems new cars are too insulated from the road to really 'feel' what the car wants to do. I've daily driven a modified 300zx for past 9 years (by choice lol) and i'm 52 years old, and i truly love to drive my car, it makes me feel 'alive', and is a genuine pleasure in my life. ❤🚗💨😁👍

@@tonydargon3918 I owned a 300ZX TT for 10 years before I sold it for the F80 M3. I agree with a lot of your perspective. Btw ever drive a C7 Z06? That would been a perfect replacement if I didn’t want practically.

@@AttheApex sadly i have not had the pleasure, but i would jump at it if the offer come up. How do you rate the 300zx compared to the BMW?
@AttheApex
@AttheApex 5 ай бұрын
@@tonydargon3918 the M is more capable but unless you drive hard it’s very muted. I’ve done speeds on back roads in the M that in the Z would be either to the limit or beyond. It’s actually silly how quickly I’m in triple digits in the M. I should got a manual but for 90+% of the time I’m driving the kids or putting around town it didn’t seem worth it.

I was looking at M2 but when I saw that giant screen in my face and no physical controls I said no. I went to the Porsche Cayman I have now with real buttons and analog gauges. The decisions at BMW are not "financial" as you say but politically driven. So they are selling manuals well (financially sound), it doesn't matter because the politicians of the EU and what they want, not what the people want, not what is good for BMW. The politicians require a bell to go off when exceeding the speed limit in a BMW in Europe! They have to turn all that off every time they start the car. The EU politicians vs. the people. I probably won't buy another BMW because the company is delusional and the designers are on acid from what I have seen lately. The designs are dystopian and hideous for the most part.
