Thank you for this explanation! I’m an adult beginner learning western and we just started working on the posting trot. I’m having issues with a “double bounce”, but your explanation of not sitting down will help me I think!

Good points. Also if a horse is being aggressive,we should investigate why. Pain or boredom/ isolation can cause those behaviours.

This helped, I had a bad headache the first time I trotted and I felt uncoordinated in the ride when he went faster

Your videos are the best I have found. They have helped me improve my bareback riding skills so much!!! Thank you ❤

One with an adult weight should not ride the horse bareback. It is hard on the horse's back.

Don't catch the horse. Allow the horse to catch you.

So essentially for a posting trot you "throw" the hips forward. Thats all thats needed?

A horse will show white from their eyes when they're excited like receiving a treat, playing, have it naturally, though take a picture for a vet to see if this is abnormal. If not, then the horse does indeed have white eyes showing naturally, like seen in Appaloosas and POAs, as well as other horses. They may have blue eyes. Or they could have an eye infection.

Thank you. Been riding for a bit over a year and am decent in the saddle and tacking up, just haven’t quite nailed proper communication yet.

I've only ever seen the daisy chain didn't knew there were other methods for safely tying your horse. Also I'm from Portugal and our halters do not require knots.

This helpful and horse psych as well. That said, you gave a lecture on utility and psychology rather than a teaching demonstration. This last is why I logged on. I love your style as a teacher.

You said follow her right foot.. front or back? Since they're in an X when trotting which do I feel for to post, the front right or back right?

These should be able to be accomplished without touching the horse when you are on the ground.

I use an old 1 inch thick wool felt saddle pad altered to have cinch attached. Better distribution of the weight of the rider away from the spine of the horse.
@gerrycoleman7290 Жыл бұрын
Behind the shoulder to drive the horse. That is called the drive line. Behind it, you are asking for forward movement. In front of it, you are asking the horse to stop or turn.
@gerrycoleman7290 Жыл бұрын
The twist in the cinch is undesirable when putting the two cinches together.
@gerrycoleman7290 Жыл бұрын
Untie one side of the reins. Now you have one rein. Now disengage the horse's forward movement and create decreasing size circles until he stops. It forces you to not rely on two reins. Practice in confined area. Then larger areas.

Used this on a runaway. We ended up over a bank by a creek but we survived and made it home. Was riding a friend's horse and didn't know she always ran back to the barn. Well I don't do that. Gave her heck when she wanted to know what happened.
