Can anyone help a woman single sailor out here who also has a problem with the furlex system. I can furl in the sail easily enough but when it comes to unfurling it, it either doesn't want to or the sail will come out a little and then I have to go up to the forestay and give a good yank with my hand to release it more. Back to the cockpit and pull out the sheet and usually then unfurls. Someone told me that the smaller furlex part at the very top of the forestay should stay still and not turn around in unison with the bottom drum. I think mine moves around with the drum - or tries to! Also, one time when I did get the sail fully out, I let the halyard slack to take off the sail but with the help of a fellow sailor who was trying to pull the sail off, it didn't want to come down either!!! Only thing I can think of is the halyard maybe stuck at the top of the mast and is causing the problem? Would appreciate someone's expertise as to what could be the problem please?

After reading several other comments here, it looks like I have similar problems to other people who need to check/grease the swivel bearings at top? So maybe a first time in having to climb the mast!!

YOU DIDN'T SHOW HOW TO OPEN UP DOWNLOADED CHARTS FOR OFFLINE USE. I don't know the difference between using Online and Offline Charts, because when I'm out of range of Internet towers, I can still see where I'm going using the Map I see on Navionics. So, I don't see the point of Downloading Maps. WHAT AM I MISSING? I JUST DON'T GET IT

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together should be able to that at a dock. The real trick is throwing 2 Inch soaking wet nylon 200 miles offshore in 12 foot seas on platform bit. In February. During a freezing cold 25 knot wind. Give that a try.

Hello, While cruising, place names are lined up according to the north direction, that is, when head up or course up is selected, it is difficult to read the place names because they are still aligned according to the north. How do I align the place names according to my cruising direction? Is there a way to align the place names with the direction I'm cruising? (Using iPhone app). Thanks.

Just being picky. The cleat hitch at about 9 minutes is incorrect. It needs to go to the far end of the cleat as you stated earlier.

As an ASA and US/Sailing Instructor, I can tell you that the one week "zero-to-hero" courses are NOT a good way to get into bareboat chartering. Charter companies want to see a sailing resume that includes boats similar to the one that you will be chartering. I always recommend that my ASA 104 students get a Skippered Charter for their first adventure in new waters. The Skipper will be responsible for helping if anything that goes wrong, they will know the best bars & restaurants in the area, and they LOVE to have crew that is engaged in planning the cruise and sailing the boat.

I just stumbled across this channel. I am an ASA Instructor, and teach 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 114, and 118. This is an EXCELLENT start to what I cover in ASA 104. I will point my students to this.

Fantastic. I just got my hands on a rental Jeanneau 380 and for some reason they want the boat berthed bow in despite being the boat being twin ruddered and the fairway being fairly narrow. This is my exact approach and is a good reminder of how to do it when I'm out of the water.

Wonderfully done, thank you! Fun fact: collision involves two or more moving objects, allision involves one moving object (boat) hitting a stationary object (dock).

Did a similar trip and enjoyed it! The southern Caribbean is much different from the northern Caribbean! Be careful of local pirates coming to your boat selling goods, sometimes they are checking you out!

Hi Guys, brilliant video and great timing for me to have found it !! We are chartering a 47ft mono hull through Sunsail next week and your route ( the standard 8 day route it seems) is almost the same as yours. What was the mooring in Marigot Bay ? My crew, read wife and non sailing friends, will need a break and that looks perfect for them. Jonathan ⛵️🏝️🇬🇧

I don't recall exactly. But I think it's either 5/8 or 3/4; it came off a 43' hunter and I think they were the same diameter as my 3/4" docklines but they might have been one size smaller

Whatever floats your boat. Or in this case, Whatever catches the cleat. The important thing, scientifically speaking, is to have as great a percentage of the total mass of the rope in each hand when throwing, in order to transfer as much inertia to the rope as possible. The mass that isn't thrown from your hands, meaning the ends you're holding onto or have fastened to the boat, have a velocity of 0, meaning they'll steal inertia/velocity from the thrown part of the rope, reducing the overall throwing distance.
