Such an emotional and beautiful track, very hard to keep a dry eye here, Floor's voice is so beautiful in this and then layered with Troy's mellow tones, that hit me hard. So many things happening here, I'm glad I have my wife by my side and that we listen and support each other. It has been less than a year since her father passed on and it still affects her a bit. For me the track brings thoughts of lost ones and how they affected my life, mostly for the better too.

Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful song and for sharing your feelings with us. I also liked your comment that one should strive to live his life well and meaningfully to become a lanternlight to those around . 🤘

This Boys and Girls is why Eric Clark is one of the best on youtube - So real , So Genuine and the best breakdowns musically out there. And even though this hit him hard as you saw , he adds words of encouragement and positivity for all who watch this . Wow , just wow !

I feel that with this song, it is like Tuomas has built the most accurate rifle in the world, and then given it to Floor, the most accurate sniper in the world. Resistance is futile…..

Concurpers were right, I was a bit apprehensive... Starting deep and low... [This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover.] Mmm, the warmth of her voice. “Last night brought the heaviest of snows” That sad piano about to sink below the ice. “Melting the songs of old” A favourite bench, with a view. Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... The old style film projector, a “Magic Lantern”. The old flickering movies, like memories. Floor soaring away. Celebration of their lives, rather than mourning. The "Janus" imagery must be deliberate, looking back into the past... Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? “I am the snow on your palm” [Storytime?] The way she uses her hands... “I am the secret stream” [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness?] “Moss beneath your feet” [My Walden?] “I am you who climbed off of my back” [Our Decades in the Sun?] “Petrichor” (with a hint of green) [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself?] “Timeless” (with a hint of a smile) [Perfume of the Timeless?] “To the meadows I go” [Meadows of Heaven?] Then Troy drifts in, right in the middle of your head, with his soft voice. He made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :) Floor echoing in the distance, so haunting. Her voice _is_ an instrument. Pope Leo Xlll, who served until his death in 1903 at the age of 93. The restored, stabilised and colourised old movies inspired Tuomas. Using that projected over Floors face was an inspiration.

I really love that they ended the song in a positive way, I'd be willing to bet that many other bands would have ended on the sad tone. Nightwish had the courage to take the composition further and trust that the listeners would sit through the entire thing.

Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad. My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.

I watched you set yourself to listen and couldn't help but think "DANG dude!!! You could plant root vegetables in those furrows between your eyebrows!!!" I saw your reaction yesterday evening and again here this morning. It is so deep in many ways, because you understand what Tuomas' goal is - and how he gets there. And Floor do understand it too and uses her instrument to reach out and grab your deepest attention - open your 'center of memories and feelings' - and there you go. And this is so new, so heavy and so Symphonic Metal, that you at once spotted it. Excellent and honest reaction as always.💪🤘👍

Please forgive me, because I knew what this song would do and I was watching your face very closely to see the moment when it hit you. The beauty and emotion of this song are far above everything Tuomas has written before, and I say that as a Nightwish fan who hasn't yet heard a song from them that I dislike. This song, and the album, are another masterpiece from the person I believe to be the best song-write in the world. And as you cried, so did I, and my little cat 🐱 came over and softly climbed into my lap. I think he gets it too. Thank you for this reaction, and for being human enough to show us how it made you feel. We appreciate you. 💜🤘 Oh, and also, thank you for finally pronouncing the album name correctly. That was driving me nuts. 😅

Tuomas's contemporaries have been dead between 0-400 years. He's going beyond even them. Watching genius in real time is breathtaking. And I must admit, I've always preferred Floor singing songs Tuomas wrote for Annette or Tarja - until "How's the Heart?" and especially this.

It's always tempting to only focus on Dino because he is SO insanely talented, but everyone in the group is a killer musician. Together they are next level. In this song in particular, the bass and drums stole the show! Doesn't get any better than that!!!

Floor can pull at any heart string she wants, when she wants to. Couple that with the genius that is Tuomas and the musicians he has compiled now and in the past you have no choice but to feel the emotions.
