in general, no you should not. your case worked out, that's great, but it's not uncommon for conures of any kind to be very territorial, and their beaks are much larger than cockatiels.

Is a green cheek conure much louder then a cockatiel? I can't decide between a cockatiel, a green cheek conure and a monk parakeet. 🤔 Do they have a large difference in their loudness? 🙂 I want to have a very intelligent bird, that is friendly, that I can play with and that can be my best friend! 🤗 About a cockatiel I just don't like that they don't get as old as conures and monk parakeets.

I would really love to take my little guy out of his cage like this but he is VERY shy and threatened by my hand in the cage, always ready to bite and I wonder, should I let him out the cage BEFORE he's used to me petting/touching him or does that need to be something he's comfortable with before he gets let out the cage? I fear that despite misting him every day, he may be molting and I know he needs some help preventing that from me, but he's just too terrified of my hand for me to be able to help him with that.

My family got our little Donovan recently and we love him, but I think we've got a lot to learn to get him to trust us. I can tell after watching this video I'm definitely doing some things wrong because he HATES when my hand is in the cage, even though he was being better about it before. He is super aggitated and terrified of my hand, and I worry I'll not be able to get him to trust me enough to let him spend some time outside his cage. Hopefully I can use some of this advice and he'll warm up to us!

Thankyou for this video, very helpful. I have a cockatiel for around two months now Mr Louis McBeak. Not 100% if male, he /she is a pearl cinnamon, and a white face, and white tail, with no markings on the tail..does this make him male ?? Think around 6 /7 months old, and a little nippy, guessing a growing stage. Hand trained, and an adorable personality, very affectionate. I work, and I find that when I go out, I leave the TV on, and he is fine. Lots of toys that I move around in a large cage. Mix up giving gum leaves and branches for toys ( I live in Australia), and some greens. So far apple, kale and spinnach he likes..or rather shreds around his cage lol. Just managed to get him to bathe , little splashes in a bowl with some grass in it, warm water, at least a start. Not very noisy, will wolf whistle, and when goinf to sleep chatters away, grinds the beak and seems he is going over his day. He does not make the chatty noises when having his usual day. I put him out in the shady sun when I can, or in front of an open window, so he gets sun, and not just UV heat. I have him eating a seed pellet mix, and use a veggie mix, and fruit mix also in a different dish to make sure he eats it. The veggies are dried, as are the fruits, so far all he will eat fresh is apple.

one thing I would say is I have chronic asthma, yet cockatiel dandruff never affects me adversely at all, so it comes down to the individual really.

I have a cockatiel albino i bought from a owner and he got attacked by the other birds and he have Hard time gaining trust but yea i usually just let him out fly around like crazy he loves that and I give him snacks but I should maybe try and give him snacks from My hand mostly so he learns i aint evil i usually whistle with him he has healthy diet and nice feather and alot of energy so i aint worried about his health only his trust

He is a sweetie 8 weeks old I have had him since he was 4 weeks old. I’ve had many cocktails but I’ve gotten many females, that I thought were males only learn they were females when they laid eggs. One is there interesting fact I found was I have never had a baby bird before this one. I saw him at the store at three weeks old, & they let me take him home st four weeks. it’s amazing to have a baby bird. It’s like the guy told me in the store this bird knows nothing on me what you teach him. You seem to be very well informed I said it again I really mean it.
