I’m a brand new subscriber, just ran across your channel. I just retired and I’m in the market for a 144 sprinter, I was looking at the Tiffin GH1 and Winnebago Revel but thanks to your channel and a couple others I’m now also considering the Grech and Midwest Auto Design. You may have addressed this in another video but like I said I’m new. Do you have a HOA in your neighborhood and if so, do you run into any problems parking the 144 in your driveway? Thanks, I’ll be watching more and more of your videos, keep making them, you guys do a good job.
@howwevan4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! We're glad our channel is helpful as you explore your options. We don’t have an HOA. Our parents do and they have a Winnebago Roam (19 ft) and they have no problems parking it on their driveway. I have heard some HOAs are cool especially if it’s your daily driver and I have heard others have to cover it and/or park in the back yard. Good luck - both Grech and Midwest are excellent camper vans. Please subscribe if you find this helpful. Safe travels!

I'm new to the channel, and late to this discussion. I wanted to mention that I went to RecVan last week to look at the 2025 models. They also showed me a 2024 Turismo-ion RWD Twin Bed. It did have seatbelts, one on each side, but only lap belts. Also, one person commented on the size of the refrigerator. The 2025s have a larger fridge. Thank you for the channel. Very helpful as we consider the Grech Turismo.

You ran the camera wire outside, underneath? Through an already open hole? subject to road dirt and lot's or water, perhaps underwater. There's no way it would catch on obstacles ( Road debris, limbs, branches, children etc.?) How did you mount the poorly routed cable?

cutting socks and slipping over cups/glasses/bottles make good cozzies. Leaving empty spaces is smart for most people do buy stuff while traveling, and having a place to put your dirty clothes as they too grow in size over time taking up more space. I have to wonder why you dont put the window shades in the 'pizza oven' space over the driver/passenger seat giving more trunk space. Amazing job, you wore me out just watching, THANK YOU for sharig. .
@howwevanАй бұрын
Thank you for watching! Good tip on the cozies … I’ll have to try that. We don’t open the back doors so having the shades back there works well for us. They absolutely would fit on the overhead shelf and sometimes they are there if we need to get into the back and don’t want to put them up. Options are nice to have. Thanks for your comments. Safe travels!

The coach is very nice. But these big tank of water, grey and black are far too big as there is very little cargo capacity in this coach due to the auto levelling and big battery and the quality furniture around 1016 lbs for this one and 806 lbs for the cab over model. If you can put 50 lbs of water you will be lucky. I think i would opt for the generator removal on this model to save an additional 121 lbs, so 1137 lbs occc, which includes full diesel tank and full propane tank apparently. 1137 for occupants , water and cargo. It’s faisable.
@howwevan2 ай бұрын
The tank sizes are great for us, although sometimes we think a bit larger water tank would be helpful. There is no auto-leveling or generator so perhaps you’re referring g to another van. No propane, either. More cargo space would of course be appreciated but we love the 19’ length.

You didn’t really compare prices-ie “bang for buck”. May not be important to you two, but I can assure you, it’s important for many. For example, how about depreciation after a few years?
@howwevan3 ай бұрын
We did mention Grech was a better value or “bang for your buck” in our opinion but didn’t want to go into pricing as it changes quickly, varies based on features and dealerships. As for depreciation it wasn’t something we considered. Sorry if the video didn’t meet your expectations. Safe travels!
@bbswanson13 ай бұрын
@@howwevan Please don’t think I didn’t appreciate this video-it was very helpful in providing pros and cons between the two brands. Appreciated your thoughts. Where we’re coming from: my husband and I are considering switching from Pleasureway (another well built RV built on a Mercedes platform) that has similar pros to Grech, but a HUGE price discrepancy. I’d love to see a comparison between those two brands.

Hi Wade. I learn a lot from your videos. Have you tried to install a rear camera for your dashcam? And if so, how did you route the wire from the back to the front dashcam?
@howwevan5 ай бұрын
Thanks - check out how I installed the rear view camera for the digital rear view mirror: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml7UXp6HiZiEd5o. I’m sure there are more professional ways, but it’s worked for me quite well for the past year or so!
@fredandcj86815 ай бұрын
@@howwevan Thanks Wade. I watched the video and noticed you did not install the rear camera. However, you do have your auxiliary rearview mirror and I'm wondering how you routed the wires from that rear camera to it. I have a 2024 Terreno AWD. It has a factory built-in rear camera in my model but to my knowledge it has no recording capabilities. One hack I am considering is installing the rear camera in the top center console and let it record the footage from the factory rear mirror. Kind of funky, but much less wiring.
@howwevan5 ай бұрын
I’m pretty sure I installed the rear view camera for the digital rear view mirror. I ended up drilling a hole under the passenger seat. It should be in the video I linked but let me know if you don’t see it.

Are there enough camping spots where there are not a lot of people ? We are thinking about buying a camper van but need to go to places where we aren’t smelling other people’s camp fires . Is this a pipe dream? Thanks in advance for your input!
@howwevan5 ай бұрын
I have to say it’s not too bad where and when we have gone. I can’t complain about camp fires. Typically if you are reserving a spot online, you can see how crowded it is when you make the reservation and you can try to get a spot in a corner. We love the campervan! Recommend it!

I have a Viair that I carry in my Subaru Forester. I like that I can air up all my tires in less than 10 minutes from start to finish. those little pumps are ok for getting the pressure up in a tire, but you’re not doing all your tires. Can’t wait to see your Alaska trip.

You compare a company that have bern in the trailer and motorized vans in many years and tell us they are the same. You have the typical newbies reaction when it’s time to compare two RV manufactured company, prefer the best because it’s cheaper and more important because you love it. For fridge smell, get a small box of baking soda, open the top, put it somewhere in your fridge, even stuffed in the back. Baking soda absorbs odours. It'll last a long time, and when it stops, replace it with a fresh box and use the old one, with vinegar, to clean sink and shower drains. I imagine it would clean the toilet, too. :) When your fridge isn't being used, and turned off, put something in the door so it can air out. Being sealed can make it smell. A good wipe out with vinegar should help. Hopefully, I get my Class B next week. I don't think I'll put that much in it, but one never knows. :) I'm still trying to figure out where I'll put the kitty litter box. The tiny wet bath is not an option. Jon in rural BC, Canada
