Embarassed Kickstarter backer here Yaw 2s dirty little secret everyone says we've been scammed. Since we aren't KZbinrs or giving them money now. Were just the ones that helped get this started and probably won't ever get what we paid for only empty extension promises. Now new buyers don't even have to pay before they send it out. I'm sure a lot of us would be willing to pay the difference to get a unit. I'd even accept a partial refund. But this is the way this company treats the people who made it all possible.

Ken, I hear ya. I feel your pain, and understand your frustration. My only disagreement is on your characterization of this being a "scam". That implies deception and dishonesty on the part of Yaw VR, and in my opinion, this isn't accurate. Oh, and I don't know that "everyone" is saying they've been scammed. I have come to know Zsolt and his team personally and professionally over the past couple years. They are talented, genuinely honest, well-intentioned, good people, trying to do their best to bring a great product to their loyal backers and customers. Question their management; doubt their effectiveness as business people; disagree with the decisions they have made; get angry with empty promises; IMO, that's all fair game. I'm pretty sure they'd agree they haven't succeeded anywhere near as well as they originally had wanted to, or had planned on. However, and FWIW, I can almost guarantee there is nothing sinister or deceptive going on here. I know it might feel like that sometimes, and I also know growing frustration can often land on these things first, to explain how so many promises have gone unfulfilled and deadlines have come and gone with no results. I hope your pledge is fulfilled soon. The silver lining for you is, when you do get your Yaw 2, it will be a MUCH better product than those delivered over the past two years. When it works, the Yaw 2 is genuinely amazing, and unlike anything else in the mid price range motion simulator market.

@VRSimWizard Scam might be a harsh word. But they made a lot I mean a lot of money (oculus kickstarter money they even went above and beyond and later gave original kickstarter CV1s as appreciation for helping them get started) and they (yaw2) produced how many kickstarters? What percent? 10% maybe, I believe you that there probably weren't bad motives at the start. I really do hope that they get a sim to us. Even if it is my grandchildren that can play on it. I was going to try to start a YT channel with it. But now I'll be going the DOF Reality or the wood DIY route, not sure which. If that channel gets any traction, Yaw might even show up at my door. Maybe the only way to get one. Will the machine be better it better be for the millions of hard earned dollars they received that they ran out so fast. I understand the pandemic, chip shortage, and inflation played a role in their hardships. I truly hope the best for them and hope they'll eventually be able to get to my KS# 😆

@@VRSimWizard Yeah looks more ergonomic than my "classic" style trackball. Might give it a try. The mouse is the ONE thing I don't have any answer for right now. Keyboard I got the MT clamp so that's fine (though I need to find a keyboard that fits better as mine is really loose right now) and today I managed to get the left/right MT chair mount bases to mount onto the Yaw2 is almost the ideal spot, so I can expand out on those mounts. Unfortunately nothing I can really do about the center and the MPS-1 is the long term answer there, but I'm going to contact MT next week maybe and see if they will work with me on some custom parts. I do believe I can get a profile mounted across the front of the platform with a little work. I need to do this because the "center table" mount is beyond garbage for me. It is just unusable for a yoke which is what I want, well at least a GOOD yoke. My Honeycomb Alpha needs a decent force to push and pull and the way the center post hinges in the middle, no matter how much I clamp that down it inevitably bends on me in the middle of a flight after some time :(

I have to say what a disappointment it has been to finally get my Yaw2 3DOF I ordered over a year ago only to find that it is incomplete and damaged. It was not damaged in transit. it was simply poor craftsmanship and lack of any quality control. I ordered the unit with casters (wheels) however they shipped without wheels and charged me for the wheels which I had to pay import duty on. They now say the wheels were not safe so thay have been discontinued but they did not bother to let me know about this. Nor have they made any mention about compensation or refund. The base plate on the bottom platform was severely damaged due to overtightening or something similar. They agree and have said they will ship another one, but they have not said when it will arrive or how I should go about fixing it when it arrives. Next problem is that after assembly there are only 2 DOF working, pitch and roll. Yaw and the chair lights are not working at all. The response from YAW has been incredibly uncaring and unprofessional. Email replies to my questions give only the most basic information regarding possible solutions. The answer to the yaw DOF not working was "after you disassemble try pushing the connectors in and see if that helps" This company has taken a good product and are now killing it. Do not buy from YAW they are the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. You will not get what you order and whatever you do get will be faulty.

That IS disappointing. I know there have been a lot of issues with incomplete shipments and damage, both from the source and shipping. In addition, the design hasn't stabilized yet, so there are issue relating to configuration management. IMO, the Yaw VR team remain well-intentioned, but they still fumble the ball far too often. Some issues might be from language and translation, but to put it simply, many come down to bad business practices. I'm sorry you have been dealing with this, and wish I had an easy solution for you.

The Yaw 2 Pro has both a power (a/c) slip ring and a USB slip ring, both with "hubs" to allow multiple devices to be plugged in. The USB hub design on my Yaw 2 isn't the best, so I've added an external powered USB hub. Attention monstertech, I almost bought this chair for my yaw2 but I didn't because I don't feel like drilling holes and such. Might not be a bad idea to create a little kit and market the hell out of it to Yaw customers. This chair is probably the overall chair of choice, but it will not sell well for YAW2 if it's not a bolt together system. I'm going with a real racing seat instead . A JEGS lowback poly with a jegs 5 point harness. Hard, light, low. Hard: to transfer the butt kicker vibrations better, light: to slightly lessen the strain on the motors, and low: to allow for VR head spinning in DCS. Once I get it running I'll put a video up on my page.
@VRSimWizard
@VRSimWizard Жыл бұрын
That is the precise reason why MonsterTech provided the seat to me: to figure out which changes need to be made to allow the MPS-1 to be as close to "plug and play" as possible. Now that they have the information, I'm sure they'll look at how they can accomplish this without creating a separate SKU for only the Yaw 2. In reality, they'll only need to add two additional holes, with threaded metal inserts, forward of the two I used, to eliminate the need to drill, and to move the two extrusions farther forward for users not employing the center stick mount (which I used to provide support for the front of the seat assembly). Ideally, they could add a set of 4 new holes close to the front of the seat, but just aft of the center stick mount. The second interference I found would only require a simple redesign of the 3D printed caps on the 80x80 (mistakenly called a 40x40 in my video) extrusion that mounts to the bottom of the seat back to resolve.

I just uploaded a video on my channel of my unboxing. You can see exactly what I all got in my order. It looks like they call that big black metal plate a "seat". I thought I was ordering the LED chair thing. I ticked every box on the order form so I thought I would get everything. I did not get the padded LED portion of the chair. Butt pad and the back rest aren't anywhere to be found. I was actually toying with the idea of mounting a legitimate fighter ejection seat if possible. I have two butt kickers and a HF8 haptic chair thing to adapt to this. This is going to be an adventure in frustration getting this thing all set up. It's not the assembly so much as it is dicking around finding a seat and rigging up the aftermarket DIY aspects of the butt kickers and keyboard mounts and stuff like that. Then you got to do all the tuning of the chair to the games. Then go master DCS on top of that. 😳 The chair itself is no big deal to put together. At least that's the way it looks to the eye and after watching some videos. If anyone's curious they can go on my page and kind of see a progression of what I have been building over the last few months. I keep upgrading everything. Went from desktop x56 hotas 3070ti oculus setup to a OC'd i9 4090 yaw2 pimax 8k setup. If I can get this yaw2 chair situated this should be quite the setup. Now if Pimax would just hurry up so I can trade in the 8KX for the 12K. Kudos to Pimax for having a full price trade-in policy. ✊🏼

Be aware that a real ejection seat is gonna weigh quite a bit. I recall trying to pick one up back in my USN student aviator days, and I needed the help of a fellow stud pilot to slide it out of the way during our flight physiology course. I have installed a MonsterTech MPS-1 Blackbird sim seat, and it's as close to an actual ejection seat (honestly, not that close, but still the closest). Video on my channel. The 3 wires that come from the unit are (red, white and unshielded bare wire). The ones that come from the seat are (red, white, green). I did solder them back using logic since I dont have a wiring diagram. I did solder red with red, white with white, and green with unshielded, but the leds on the seat still dont turn on. my question to you is: what voltage should I have on these wires and what wires to test? Is it 12volts? I want to test the led strip but dont know the voltage to apply or which is positive/negative. I will also like to test the wires coming from the unit itself to check if there is power coming out from them. I noticed that the light in the back of the unit (Yaw logo) is not turning on either Maybe related), so maybe something got shorted out. The lights in the bottom part of the unit are working fine. Are there any fuses for the leds inside the unit. Again sorry to bother you but the people at Yaw havent answer my emails for a month. I will appreciate your help. Thanks

This is all my opinion, but I've been on a number of motion simulators in this price range, and of them, the Yaw 2 is the most substantial and sturdy, certainly more so than something like the DOF Reality products that are "all arms and legs" with multiple actuator motors. The Yaw 2 is simpler and more robust, and has a much larger range of motion. It's built upon the success of the Yaw 1, and everything Yaw VR learned in the Yaw 1 has been applied to the Yaw 2.

(I thought YawVR has cancelled that already) Also I have a question. At the end of your video, you demo how to use mobile app to instruct Yaw 2 to move. When Yaw 2 move to one direction then stop moving before next motion instruction, seems Yaw 2 was "wobbling", instead of standing still as it soon. Seems the movable parts are loosely held. Do you find it this way? Thanks a lot!
@VRSimWizard
@VRSimWizard 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments. My Yaw 2 does have the casters, but I haven't used them yet. I'll cover these in a future video. From what I understand, Yaw VR are redesigning the casters, as they have found the ones used are too small. Regarding the "wobble", I used the "Random" test function in the app, and this results in motion that is likely more violent than anything you'll experience in any simulation app, however, this is a powerful device, and you may experience some lifting during the most severe movement, especially rapid yaw motion. The movable parts are attached fairly securely; at least as securely as they can be, considering they need to be free to move through all 3 degrees of freedom.

Regarding the USB hub, I haven't gotten my Yaw 2 fully up and running yet with anything other than the iPhone app.. Stay tuned for many more videos.

Great summary, thanks for the work you put into this! I would have liked to see/hear you mention the supporting wheels for pitch and roll, which a few users had popped out of place during shipping as well.

Thanks. I addressed that briefly in my unboxing video. I had one pop out myself.

Great video Dennis! I've been on the internet for a while and you are the first person on KZbin that I really enjoyed watching right after one video! I will watch more off your stuff after I subscribe.

Thanks for doing the video :) As for that roller. I have a feeling they might have took it off on purpose and there's meant to be a note in there about it. I forget where I heard this though so I might just be too optimistic on that one ;) Also. I didn't see the middle plate or the side plates? Did they forget them? Thanks

Those parts were in the other boxes. I didn't video unboxing of every box. Just the large crate.
