This is an excellent implementation for people that are disabled, born/sustained with a/a brain injury to help with their rehabilitation towards independence for a better life.

My mother had lung cancer and walking was very difficult. People would threaten her when she parked with her blue badge because you cant see lung cancer and they presumed she was not disabled.

There are not enough spaces for physical disabilities. Walking wounded should be escorted by relatives/friends not take up spaces for genuine need.

The last 3 times I have had to prove myself. I have it now for 3 years. I will be 83 if I am able to drive, I suppose I will have to be assessed again.

In Salisbury , the jealous County Councillors have reduced the number of disabled parking bays and are making us pay , to use the disabled parking bays . Result -- the Disabled people like me are parking on single yellow lines , and not in Car Parks. I may look OK , but i have severe breathing problems due to 84 years of Asthma, and have difficulty getting in and out of cars due to a back injury 30 years ago when I was teaching. I do not drive any more, but use my disabled badge when a family member drives me there. Funny I can use my badge all over Germany for free , but not in Wiltshire, !

Then leave the disabled bays for the people that can't walk

I NEED a disabled parking bay. I CANNOT bend enough to get in and out of my car without opening the door WIDE. Despite using crutches and experiencing pain, I CAN walk. WHY do we have to rely on ignorant NON- DISABLED people, for the main part, to make decisions about BB parking. I don't care if I have to pay, I don't care if the space is 2 or 300 yards away from the shop. What I need is ACCESS. I also suffer from mental problems, but those don't make it more difficult to park my car! The whole system has gone pear shaped. If a disability is invisible, the sufferer DOESN'T need the extra space.

the person with the Blue Badge doesn’t award it to themself ,they apply for a Blue Badge and it’s up to the local authorities to decide whether they fit the criteria in order to have one. It’s the people who are assessing the potential holder of a badge that all this criticism should be aimed at,not the person who is applying. Nobody knows or understands what some people are going through ,which is why there should be a more intense interview of the person applying,.

Hello Driving Mobility, I'd like to share my feedback on the recent experience I've had with Driving Mobility. My assessment was conducted by Wessex Drivability Team and it took place at Basingstoke Outreach Assessment Centre, Worting House, Worting Road, Basingstoke. Katie Andrews and Laura Holley conducted the assessment and made it an absolutely amazing experience. As soon as we got into the centre we were made to feel extremely welcome and asked to complete a form and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. They went through a very detailed description of who they are, what will be covered throughout the session and ensured I understand what is expected of me. I was then asked if everything is clear and I fully understand the structure of the day and once I confirmed we progressed into a few cognitive assessment and memory exercises. All which were extremely clear and very entertaining. After a visual field test, I was briefed on the car controls and safety measures and once I agreed I am comfortable and feel confident to start we started with a few manoeuvre exercises in the parking lot. I was made aware that the vehicle has dual controls (which hopefully won't all have to be used :)). A very good start which made me feel supported, yet again. Laura asked me If I am comfortable with the car controls and her informing me verbally as well as with her hands on the directions to follow once we went out. Upon confirmation that I am comfortable with the car controls we started to head out of the centre onto the road. The driving went extremely well and it was over in a blink of an eye to my surprise. Before starting I thought a second would feel like an hour but thanks to Laura and Katie they made it flow incredibly seamlessly. When we got back I was debriefed and informed they are happy with my driving, made a few observations and informed me of the next steps. I would like to thank them both very much for providing such a seamless assessment and for being so welcoming, friendly and professional. My experience was thoroughly enjoyable and I cannot recommend it enough. I hope you give yourselves the credit you deserve for providing such an excellent service. Driving is so much more than just getting us from A to B. It allows us to live independently and have the freedom to see family/friends and live better. I am also a motorcyclist and keeping my license allows me to enjoy something I am very passionate about. Thank you! ❣

Having a blue badge absolutely won’t help you find a parking space! I find there are fewer spaces and more people looking for them.
