24:48 I tried to remove the rear tire from 2 different City Vanture bikes (one time on trail with a flat) but was not able to. One side (The side you're on) was easily movable. The other side (facing the camera) slid a little but only to the point it seemed like the drop-out was "pinching" closed preventing the shaft from sliding out. The other time I was in my garage and actually had to significantly pry it open so the wheel would release. Do you have any idea what would cause this? (I tried to tell from your video but the wheel seems to go on easily as expected.)

Intersting, I have had some issues with other e-bikes in the past (not the Vanpowers) Where the dropout for the front or rear wheel gets bent or is improperly made in the factory, and this can cause what you are describing where there does not seem to be enough room for the axle to enter the frame. Sometimes also, there is a washer, either round or one with a little hook on it, that goes into a small hole on the dropout, and this can prevent you from getting the wheel in or out of the dropout. They are made to keep the wheel in but can make installation and removal challenging if the axle is not loose enough

@@BikeRidecom Thanks for taking the time to reply. I just got it back from the shop and the technician said he had to undo/remove the brake entirely to get the axel to release. I don't recall if I didn't have the tool needed to do this or was just fed up at that point (on the trail). In any event, I don't think changing a tire should be that difficult. Considering my options now.

this or the engine pro 2.0? price aint a issue… i just dont like how the engine pro 2.0 can’t reach 45kmh throttle only
@BikeRidecom
@BikeRidecom 7 күн бұрын
The Engine Pro 2 has some nice upgrades over the EP-2 Pro such as : a more powerful 750W nominal (1200W peak), 52V - 16 Ah battery which is larger capacity and higher voltage then the Ep-2, hydraulic brakes, and rear suspension. IMO these would make the engine pro the better bike of the two. I can see online it says the top speed for throttle is 32 km/h, but it is possible that after unlocking the bike it will go to 45 km/h like the EP-2 Pro. I have not had a chance to test the bike out to see if it will. Sometimes they wont advertise this but the controller will allow it after unlocking. PAS to 45 km/h is not bad either, I do not mind pedaling to get the little bit of extra speed. With the large 750W motor it's worth it since you wont feel the work

The bike weighs 66lb, so moving it up or down stairs in either its assembled or folded state will depend on the person. It is smaller than other e-bikes but will not be as easy to move as a regular bike in small spaces. I would not want to try to push through a small train door with the bike in its folded state. I have known some to put the bike into a Rubbermaid style tote to make it easier to carry in its folded state.

@@BikeRidecom I know how much it weighs, I also have home gym kit so can put 35kg on a bar, What it doesn't tell me is the weight distribution. That little handle between the cross bar and the seat is designed so you can carry it short distances, yet I've not seen anyone actually use it in a review aside from one guy briefly putting the folded bike in the back of his truck, which isn't really carrying it any distance or in it's bike unfolded form.

As a City Vanture owner I can attest this is a solid review. I'm happy with the bike overall although I do occasionally run into issues with hills as mentioned in the video. That said, it tackles some hills that were difficult to climb with the regular mountain bike I owned previously. One minor drawback not mentioned in the video is if you're traveling a good speed and lower the pedal assist down a level (because it's not needed) you will feel "drag" from the motor that you would not feel downshifting on a normal bike. At this point you have two options: A) let the bike coast down to the speed that is compatible with that assist level or B) turn it back to the next higher assist level to where you feel little to no resistance in the peddling at all. This doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it's somewhat of a let down. Best suited for relatively flat urban environments and paved trails. 4 out of 5 stars. ps. Range with extra battery: 30 miles on semi-hilly paved terrain primarily on level 3 using 4 and 5 for hills only without any power loss before having to recharge. *Average speed 16 mph

Thanks for watching and commenting! Thats great to know that your experience was very similar to mine with the bike. I agree with all your points about hill climbing and general riding, its a fun and agile bike for flats and smaller hills, and it is definitely better then riding a normal bike up a hill! Good point about the motor drag, I did not notice that as much on our test bike, but TBH I was riding it mostly in the highest assist setting, which probably prevented me from feeling that motor drag as mentioned. Great comment for other potential purchasers!

Why did you not mention the thumb throttle, or how it works?!
@BikeRidecom
@BikeRidecom 18 күн бұрын
I briefly mentioned the thumb-style throttle in both the cockpit/ control section and the motor section. They are very simple. It's a 1/3-turn, thumb-operated throttle that provides motor power when pressed. There is not much to the operation other than pressing the throttle for power, and pushing more or less will affect the amount of assistance being offered.

Hey please contact me, I purchased this bike... There is a controller firmware flashing issue in my mind, as the controller shuts down at 45v. (cutoff for a 52v battery, not the 41v shutdown for a 48v system) I believe what you see on battery level is accurate, it just shuts down too soon. To verify, ride bike to shutdown, take a meter and on the middle set of 6pins, measure the dc voltage -- betting it's slightly over 45v....
@BikeRidecom
@BikeRidecom 18 күн бұрын
The battery level and shut off are both controlled by an advanced setting in the menu that allows you to select the voltage level for each battery bar indicator. After digging into the settings I could see that they were all set to 45V or higher. Correcting these to the right battery levels for each stage fixed our issue with the bike. Still I think R1UP should ensure these are properly adjusted from the factory for riders.

The spring should have a groove it fits back into as you can see in the video. With some tinkering, you may be able to find its location and get it back into place. If it has broken or come out of its groove it can be very challenging to fix. Typically, when the spring comes out or gets damaged, it's game over for the shifter. They are not very expensive items, so replacing the entire shifter or upgrading it is probably your best option if the spring is not going back into place

Any chance for a comparison graphic for the hill climb test? While feeling detached from the bike is a negative for taller riders, i think it's better than the alternative for a 20" wheel which is not being able to find a comfortable peddling position at all. Great review as usual. Would be great if you added the results of a simple customer service request to your reviews.

Thanks for watching and commenting! If you check out our full written review at the link below we have all the test results, and each has a graphic with comparison to other bikes. www.bikeride.com/engwe-ep-2-pro/ (you just need to scroll down the page and click "read full review" then scroll to the motor section and you will see the graphics for each hill test) You are right about the sizing, it's tough to say which is better after riding folders that do not offer any adjustment and these that can fit taller riders. I think its just nature of the beast, these folders will never replicate the geometry and ride style of other non-folding bikes. I have been hesitant to add customer service queries. We have been in contact with Engwe, and they are fast and responsive to our replies. I have found all e-bike companies are quick to respond to reviewers' questions and requests though. I have had broken items before and all brands have been very willing to send free parts if anything seems to be wrong. I'm uncertain if this is the case for single-purchase customers though, as the brands may be biased in ensuring they give the best service possible to reviewers like BikeRide. Starting in the next couple of reviews, we are going to spend a little more time talking about the manufacturer, how long they have been producing, and the track record they hold so far. To try to bring more info on the brand for you guys
