I need to know how you wired the shovelhead to start and run without the wiring harness, Ive been working on this 76 shovelhead for 7 years, I brought it home in boxes, and have just about finished it completely, so if you could help me out with this one thing I believe Ill get to at least hear it run before I die

@@Angelstone420 all you need 12v to one side of the coil, and the points wire to the other side of the coil. Make sure engine is grounded to battery, and it’ll run.

@@Angelstone420 for the starter, just needs the positive battery cable connected to the starter motor, then jump the solenoid, I bolted a feeler gauge to one lug so that I could push it down to jump the lugs, but you could jump it with a screwdriver or anything to activate starter.

@@Angelstone420 if you want it to charge, it’s just the stator wires go out to the rectifier/regulator, then one wire goes from that back to the positive on the battery.

Still early in the video, but just wanted to say that the bike’s gonna look great! I just got my new chain for my ‘99 Heritage Softail, was missing a few o-rings on my old chain. Hoping getting the old master link off won’t give me too much trouble. I seen a couple of videos where guys would use C-clamps and a nut 🔩 as an alternative to the master link tool which I don’t have. Greetings from Reno, Nevada ✌️😃

I am looking forward to seeing the chopper run and completed. I'm curious if you have done anything else to the flh? I've got a passion for the shovelheads. I just recently bought a 1982 FLT, and it's been lowered, with no fairing or windshield. (Looks good sitting next to my 78 flh) Single headlight and dual running lights. Dual fishtails straight pipes sound awesome. It looks like later model saddlebags, 16" apes, 19" thick black spoke front wheel. Running great but has a little bit of a primary leak that I will take care of this winter. I just wish it had a Kickstarter, I don't like having to rely on a starter. I picked it up for only $3,000, so I'm sure I'm not going to complain.

@@rjoetting7594 Ya, after much research, I found that a replacement chain was really the only option, I ordered a Drag Specialty Chain from JPCycles, and took a chance on a $20 chain riviter from Amazon, which it got the job done, but bent the rivet tool a little. Now there’s an electrical issue that I need to diagnose, battery is good, but not getting any power when I turn on the key. I don’t know anything about electrical, but I did look at the fuses, but so far I’ve only found a fuse box under the seat with two fuses that have a metal body. I’ve asked around for anyone with any knowledge, but everyone seems to not know much either. Sounds like you got a great deal on a great bike!

When the lever on the petcock is down, that's reserve. Up is on. Also, just behind the right rear floorboard mount- is that a crack in the frame or an optical illusion on the video?.

Wow, eagle eye there! I went and looked right now, and I see what you’re talking about on the frame. Luckily, after I scraped the paint off down to bare steel, there appears to be no crack. It was just some paint lifting there.
