Double bass setup for Synthetic Guts, new fixed bridge and planing fingerboard.

Setting up my Cremona SB-2 with a new fixed Bausch bridge, straightening the fingerboard, and drilling tuners for a set of fat Superior Bassworks Dirty Gut strings.

I got those strings and as they wouldn't fit initially, I burnt the end bits to make them thinner. Did the trick

I think this was a little too much, it’s got a little still, and it’s playing great for me since. 👍

Had to do the same treatment on the tuners and tailpiece of my old Palatino CCB several years back to accommodate the bigger nylon strings. Nice vid!

3:39: on the treble side, that fingerboard NEEDS relief! Makes thumb position a bit easier to execute.

when i was trying to put those strings on my bass they would slip when trying to tune them ;(
