thank you for making a video on this topic. I had lot of trouble ever since I changed my old florescent tube light with a LED light. LED light bulb emits too much light and it badly effects the water by aiding in algae formation. I will use this technique and post my next comments on how it worked out for me.

Whats the maximum delay I can put in? For example..I want to use a switch to turn a relay on...if the switch is forgotten and left on, I want the relay to turn off after a few hours of it being on. Do I need an external clock for this or will the Arduino do it provided it is on and programmed for the time? Consequently, when the switch it turned off, it resets the timer until the switch it turned on again to perform a function... Much like how newer cars will automatically turn off the interior light after X amount of time if you accidentally leave it on.

I went through the video and the article which was very useful to me. I wish if you can guide me to incorporate a LCD display in the code and a relay driver to drive a table fan it will be more useful to me to try out. I am eagerly awaiting your help in this respect. What are the additional codes needed in this sketch and also the circuit to incorporate. Thanks for the project which enlightened me about Arduino.

This might work for a solar system. When batteries are down switch from the wall and if fast enough could also be used as a ups inverter to run uninterrupted power. I think they sell fancy inverters that switch from solar system to main and you dont even notice a glich in the power but they cost over 500 dollars. With this you could wire the wall and a battery in an emergency!
