I have this ez series cart! And after 13 races with lipo and stock motor, the spur gear teeth have been damaged... what grease do you recommend putting on the spur gear and the pinion to lubricate? Any metal sprockets you recommend for this 2wd? Can they be any sprocket regardless of the teeth? greetings friend! and thank you very much for sharing! wonderful and detailed review!😊😊😊

Interesting to see that failure of the shock. They must be fundamentally different to traditional yellow CVAs. Thank goodness for the Hi Cap option 👍🏻

Back in the day the Turbo Optima had a wider body for a 7 cell battery. It came with a "modified" motor and a speed control that could handle the extra current. Also in the box was bearings and a belt drive which were optional on the Optima and Javelin, and larger wheels. Lastly the shocks were larger in diameter and taller (making the shock towers larger as well) but they were still a locking collar and not threaded. Threaded shocks were available about a year later. I used to run my Optima with a Turbo Optima body with the Javelin inner roll bar underneath.

The chassis of the Beetle, Scorpion, Turbo Scorpion, and Tomahawk is based on the real VW bug chassis.
@cascadesouthernmodeltrains754715 күн бұрын
I really like the 48p gears over the old 32p. With 48p you can actively get any pinion as they are widely used today. I have the Turbo Scorpion, Tomahawk, Optima, Javelin and the Turbo Optima. When I was a kid I had the Optima but I bought a Javelin body and would run it as either one.

i'm amazed by your follow shooting. how did you do that? you can't be just running together with the rc car, can you? they are fast!
@KaiCityRC16 күн бұрын
Yep, running alongside the car while shooting.😁 I'm not going full throttle, but fast enough to give a sense of speed. Being low to the ground helps. I have a video explaining how I shoot. 👍

Very nice. But I am on the fence about "Elite" buggies like this. While it is good that it exists.. parts support is gonna be virtually nonexistent.
@KaiCityRC17 күн бұрын
I don't think many people will run them, or if they do, only very lightly. More of a collectors item than anything else. But should you decide to run it, parts and support are available directly from Masaaki Hirosaka's shop.

What a really cool video and it was great to see them unveil it and talk about it. Thanks for taking the time to translate it for us! I would love to have one but I can adda lot of other kits to the collection for the price this one is going for. I don't think it is overpriced but just too much for me to justify spending on a single kit. Thanks for the video David!

Update: After seeing how capable and quick even near standard 870c's can be on the track, I've come to the conclusion that the difficultly I had in jumping (well, landing) was more due to my lack of driving skills!! That said, a bumper modification recommended by other 870c drivers really helped to reduce the forward flips on jumps. 👍 If you want to see what skilled drivers can do on a track, check out my G Force Competition Cup video.

The vibe I got was that most people weren't taking it too seriously.😁 We're more there for fun! To have a good day out, meet interesting like-minded people and enjoy a bit of light hearted racing. People run what they want, be it two or four wheel drive. Yeah, the 4WD were faster, but there were plenty of fast 2WD's there too. 👍 A (heavily modified Hornet and Scorpion both made it into the A main!!)

Thanks! I find the 870c's driving characteristics to be personally quite challenging to master. It's fast, even with very mild mods (both Nana Chan's and Masami's San's 870c were far less modified than most). I guess I need more practice! 😁

This was my first time to attend the event. I understand there was an even greater variety of buggies in previous years. But for this year, given that the 870c has just been released and that Masami San was going to be entering with one, understandably there were many 870c entries. 😊 There were some older Tamiya's including, Avante, Egress, Grasshopper, newly released Manta Ray and some Thunder Shot chassis cars. 👍
