It seems like such a shame that these cars that they worked so hard to produce will most likely never see the track, but if I had one, I don't think I could run it either. It's a work of art. It's special that your son got you this and seems fitting given that it was a father and son that made it. Congratulations David and thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
@KaiCityRCАй бұрын
I totally agree. These, indeed any RC was made to be driven. I try to drive everything I own, so I can honestly say I only have three shelf queens - cars that were built and never driven. Everything else gets used, though as my collection has grown the frequency of use has declined. This MX-4 is very special for so many reasons, so I don't think I could ever bring myself to run it. But never say never...

Well your son just won the son of the year award for sure! LOL! What an incredible piece of RC history and I could never take it out and run it around. If it were a a Tamiya or Kyosho "limited edition" car then sure. It would be limited to thousands to tens of thousands of them. This one is exceptionally rare, hand built by the master himself and only 100 ever to be made. I would end up storing it in a safe!!! Of course it is yours so by all means, it is yours to do whatever with it. I am sure no matter what it is not going to be a decision made right away and just a thing of beauty to look at over and over again!
@KaiCityRCАй бұрын
Hi Addam, sorry for the delay in replying. I somehow missed your comment. 😅 I always try to run everything I build, even if it just lightly or once. But this is too special (for many reasons) to run. Perhaps in the future I may change my mind (never say never). But for now, I'm content to just admire it on the shelf...Well, at the moment it's back in the box. 😁

Kudos to your son, that's an incredible gift and thank you for showing it to us 👏🤝

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I also prefer to build kits myself, but this is an exception. For me, the fact that the MX4 was built by the Hirosakas adds a great deal to its value. ☺️

What a fantastic video, you really did the car justice. Anyone can see how much the car means to you from your expression and how you talk about it! You also must have been one of the first to receive their cars, so to get a video out so quickly is a real treat, thank you. Difficult to know what to do with the car regarding driving it or not. Perhaps the answer is to have 2 cars!
@KaiCityRCАй бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to comment. ☺️ Being in Japan, relatively close to where they were built, meant I received mine quite quickly. Fortunately it arrived on a Saturday, so I had the time to record, edit and upload the video on the same day. Several other Japanese buyers have received theirs too. Some of whom have installed electronics and are preparing to run them! Funny you should mention having two. Even if I could afford it, I don't think I could buy two. Personally, it wouldn't feel right to take two of such a limited number and deprive another fan of the pleasure of owning one...
@claytonfarlow76Ай бұрын
That’s a very valid point regarding having two cars. I can’t imagine it would’ve been that easy to get two anyway, even if you had the means to do so. I keep searching for ‘MX-4 Forever’ on KZbin looking for new videos now they’re out in the wild. There is now a short video going around of someone driving one.

A beautiful car. The story of a car that could not drive the event it was made for should not wrap up with a bunch of cars on shelves. Don't abuse it, but let it be one of the few that got a chance. It will still look just as good when you put it back, and you will have given a bird its wings back. Whatever you choose, thanks for the video of it.

There’s something to be said about raising a son who gives his father presents - of the kind that the parent couldn’t (comfortably) afford. And it’s not like your son can be that old since you’re barely middle-aged yourself. He has found success in life at a young age. The car looks phenomenal from an engineering standpoint, and it has an interesting history.

Im super happy for you. Thats how to do limited addition. In a way its like buying a Ferrari of the rc world. I think most will say dont drive it and they are probably right. But... you can buy parts...and we know if it's left on the shelf the tyres go bad. The belts go bad. The plastic gets brittle. Unless your saving it for someone else maybe you could enjoy driving it just once. But I dont blame you for keeping it perfect. It's only perfect once.

Great video as per usual. Glad you got one of these. Appreciate your insights about the buggy (as well as all of your other buggies) and the pure racers that created it. It would be awesome to see a running video of it, but I can understand if you choose not to run it as well. That said, as Jerry Seinfeld has suggested on this topic, who are you saving the car for by not running it? Nice work!

I think it is only a matter of time before we either see a Genova Mk. II or a 4WD machine from G Force. 🙂 What form a 4WD buggy would take is anyone's guess, but I'd imagine it would follow the Genova in being a retro inspired, predominantly plastic, but nevertheless very capable mid-tier machine.

I admit I considered getting one but this car is not a vintage, not a legend, not a former champion, not new, it's a semi-serialized old prototype... You shouldn't even get it out of the box. If it wasn't a gift, I'd tell you to sell it now because I'm afraid in two years, nobody will care for this car - no matter how limited it is
