The thing about a lie is that it incurs a debt to the truth. Lie after lie after lie. They all add up. The entire reactor was built on lies. The entire reason it exploded was because of using graphite tips on the control rods. Which are cheaper. So when the fail safe shut down button was pressed. It instead, exploded. There is no containment building. No meltdown failsafe. It’s a negative void coefficient reactor. The entire thing is a mess waiting for a disaster. The only fail safe is people. People with the proper training. More things they don’t have as they lied to everyone who worked on them or worse. Didn’t give them information on how it actually worked. Everything in Russia is like this. That’s why their military is not able to defend themselves against a 28th place gdp nation. So when it fails. No one can admit it. Because it’s their head on the line. All the way up. Until. Well. This lie is too big to ignore and hitting Sweden. On top of that it’s getting worse so. They tell the truth only when forced to and even then. Only where needed. Most Russians didn’t know about this at all. It’s the Russian way. Only worse place on earth is China and it’s a neck and neck for first place.

Since 1990, NATO has expanded its membership by adding 15 countries, which included grafting eastern Germany into western Germany, plus Finland and Sweden since Putin invaded Ukraine. In 1991, the Soviet Union officially collapsed. Most of the former east bloc Warsaw Pact countries, and even some of the former SSRs, have since joined NATO. This alone could help explain Putin's feeling like a trapped rat. Perhaps the solution might be in exchange for total Russian withdrawal from Ukraine (and now Ukraine's total withdrawal from Russia as well), and Putin stepping down, may well be the total disbanding of NATO and CSTO(East Bloc successor to Warsaw Pact) and ALL other permanent military alliances. The world ought to treat ALL such military alliances (NATO/CSTO/etc.)the same way it now treats the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Without pre-existing alliances, both world wars 1 and 2 could not have started. Our first president George Washington advised to never get entangled in permanent alliances, though he did recognize that temporary alliances are sometimes necessary in his "Farewell Address". The big question is: how could an anti permanent military alliance treaty (APMAT) be enforced?

In the Chernobyl TV show the Russians are depicted as heroes, sacrificing themselves for their comrades and families but in reality liquidators were paid well and these people were poor and doing it for the money they desperately needed.

That is not a cool comment. Without the suffering of brave Russian soldiers Europe would not have been free. We all would be Nazi's. As many other parts in the world. Not only Ukraine. Pentagon gave weapons and money to Nazi's to start murdering Ukranian people. For what did American soldiers died for during WW2 while fighting Nazi's ? They would turn in their graves. Why not educating yourself about the complete picture in Ukraine ? This world is not black or white but grey. Dark grey.

It would be great to hear some options to this question. I'm no expert, but as far as I understand, it's necessary to maintain a 'Balance of Power' principle, and this polarity seems to be composed of a dynamic between NATO and the CSTO Member States. If NATO continues to expand, meaning, including Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina , Georgia and Sweden as aspiring members as part of their Open Doors enlargement policy, it is natural to assume that the CSTO might also increase it's members, or, seek partners in different spheres, similar to political approach that the Kremlin has shown to Pyongyang. Perhaps the solution for such difficult situation could be found on the promotion of Global Values, for example, values that speak about Global collaboration on humanitarian policies, centering Humanity instead of fomenting aggression. It's like the problems generated on the Cold War are being revived, and the current conflicts are spectrums of miss-solved problems. I think we need to move away from this Nuclear Winter mindset, and focus on a Kardashev Scale goal set, aiming for the Stars in unity of consciousness as Humankind, not as citizens of broken nations.

Had to stop it just a few seconds in when you said "Did you know that in Fukushima attempts were made to restore the power supply using car batteries to cool the reactor units?" No, the batteries would in no way keep cooling systems functioning and the workers fully understood they were not powerful enough, they were used to restore monitoring instrumentation.

Summary, be scared of nuclear energy. Terrible call to action. Modern nuclear energy systems would never experience the same failure mode as Chernobyl and are be much safer designs.

Just watched Walking with the Enemy during which I researched Carl Lutz. Yes, what Pinchas Rosenbaum did was fantastic but also fantastic was what Carl Lutz accomplished! In this particular film, the story is focused on Rosenbaum (called Elek Cohen in the movie) but Carl Lutz, Righteous Among The Nations, will always be remembered and should always be honored for his bravery, compassion & determination in being cleverly defiant of "the Fuhrer" and his rescue of tens of thousands of people; people who were in addition to just being human were also Jewish.
