It's scary how getting the footage is maybe even more dangerous then the climb he did, Ueli is an inspiration.

I recall reading somewhere that, unlike some of the other Eiger speed climbers, Ueli didn't use the fixed ropes at the Hinterstoisser Traverse and climbed it unaided. There's a reference to it on the Wikipedia page for the Eiger.

A great behind the scenes look at some amazing work (the climbing and the filming)! Thank you for putting this together. It would have just been nicer if it were HD or even higher quality than 320px. For those looking for the resulting footage, just search for "Uli Stek Hardware Sessions North Face". I think there are a few parts to it.

Straight up is straight up, but let's also not pretend it's possible to get to the bottom of any face and just go. Groups of climbers would normally take 2-3 days to climb this thing - the 1938 route tests many climbers to their limits. There's also an incredible amount of history in that route - many climbers, especially of Ueli's generation, will have read The White Spider and in doing this route are realising a dream. By the way, anyone know what he did at the Hinterstoisser Traverse?
