Hey James! Great video! Just bought my son a 2008 HHR for his first car. Couple of things need to be fixed and this is one of them. Before we get started, just wondered if it would be better to take off the entire chrome Chevy emblem since it seems like the loom is too big to fit through the opening. It looks like the plastic piece that holds the latch in place is broken. Let me know what you think and thanks again!
@kinura26
@kinura26 4 жыл бұрын
David Tomky my switch was only held on by one screw the other had rusted off. If you look straight up under the chrome lip there should be two screws holding the switch in. If you remove them the switch should drop down with enough cable to be able to unplug it.

Mine will go to 3 or 4 before it runs me out of my house! I don't know what it is with those things, but they certainly have a lot of volume. I saw an ad where it mentions that they will provide "enough volume for a nice sized ballroom!" It's hard to believe how good that little 6" speaker sounds on those things. James, I'm really happy to see the old girl up and going. It sure sounds good. A good choice for a record too.

You will need that phonograph reproducer rebuilt, I do that service for 45 bucks + shipping for people. The volume control is Both a transformer coupler & volume control done by step down wire resistors inside. I would recommend the reproducer repair first, The rubber damper/pivot rubber dries hard and does not let the reproducer work right , Feel free too go to my youtube sight and view my video's mike

That back resister should be a 5000 Ohm 50 Watt ceramic type Should always use a shield around the ballast tube so that it does overheat and weaken the tube filament the hole idea there was that the chimney over that tube would cool the amplifier by drawing the heat up through the stack from the hole amplifier help cool the resisters & power supply. though I would give ya some helpful hints mike
@kinura26
@kinura26 7 жыл бұрын
thanks Mike I have a few resistors in series to equal 5000 ohms. it gets fairly warm but not to bad. its all back in the cabinet with its chimney and works pretty well. the radio is very full sounding nice bass but the phono is kinda squaky and thin sounding. not sure if that's normal or pehaps the eq circuit in the volume control has open connections. it is a blessing from God that it actually works at all it had lots wrong with it

Gosh those Radiola 28's are an odd animal for a radio, aren't they? I've gotten San Diego on that one of mine from here in North Iowa! The loop in those for the aerial is quite a contraption as well. Good luck with the old girl. Once you get it up and running you'll be surprised at the amount of volume that little speaker is capable of. I would also get a transformer to drop the voltage down and get rid of that ballast tube. That ballast tube puts out an enormous amount of heat and really gets the whole cabinet quite warm after it's been running for about an hour or so. It will be easier on your tubes as well when you first turn your set on. And thanks for the video! I'm glad to see another one of those things are getting put back together.

this is true over my dead body would that ever happen here at Holy Cross. I always keep an eye out for those sneaky Electronic organ dealers that cone to churches and tell them how awful there organs are and how there are "un reparable" as a result perfectly good organs get literally thrown into dumpsters. bit it will never happen here as long as I'm here

properly maintained pipe organs are getting harder to find in churches around here, Most have opted for the $1000 Yamaha "computer-chip replica" keyboards... Sad. One church I know of in particular still has the pipes for "the look" but the console is nowhere to be found. (nor is the big sound)

They have a Kilgen 4/16 sitting in disrepair at the Oklahoma History Center. It was moved from the Civic Center after they said organs were passé. I guess they never visited the Bass Performance Hall in Texas. They moved it just a couple years ago to the history center and tried to install it. But now pipes sit around collecting dust as they need another $500,000 to finish the install but are laying off people just to keep the lights on.
