Just finished this job on my 07 gt. Here are a few recommendations from my experience of doing this job on jackstands. I would definitely invest in an impact driver and an electric ratchet. This job would be significantly worse without them. As mentioned elsewhere, the drive shaft bolts on the flange that connects to the transmission output shaft are originally installed with a type of loctite that requires heat to remove. Go ahead and buy the propane torch as it will make your life easier. Penetrating oil and a breaker bar is also very helpful with some of the super stuck bolts. When removing the transmission bell housing bolts, I found it easiest to remove all the bolts from under the car except the top left bolt (this boot was easier to access from the engine bay with a ratcheting combo wrench). Once everything is taken apart, be careful when adding the rear main seal retaining ring. If you hit it too hard, it will actually back the rear main seal out of metal plate and you’ll have to take it apart and reinstall (ask me how I found this one out…). When tightening the metal plate down, be careful because the bolts shear very easily (do not use an impact here). When installing the flywheel, torque to 59 ft-lbs in star pattern. When installing the clutch pressure plate, ensure that the alignment key is actually pushed all the way into the pilot bearing to ensure the clutch disk is positioned correctly (this allows the transmission input shaft to install easier). When tightening the clutch pressure plate, hold the alignment key in the correct position and torque the pressure plate bolts to 33 ft-lbs in a star pattern. THEN, go back and add a 60° turn to each bolt to finish the torque rating required. If this step is done correctly, the alignment key will slide out with very little effort. When installing the driveshaft, the transmission side torque to 76 ft-lbs and the diff side torques torque to 41 ft-lbs. Biggest piece of advice is take your time, buy the correct tools for the job, and have some friends that can help as some tasks are too much for one person to do safely. Good luck with your install!

Look kids a money pit. I had a MK5 Stage II TDI with a 5 Speed. It was fun for a while but my God do these get to be pos's as it is. The car was a 2006 with 155,000 miles on it. I recently bought a Subaru Outback in May this year. It has 215800 miles on it. It still runs! Sure things need fixed but Volkswagen really over did it with there over engineering shit. I will never own a Volkswagen or a German car again.

Did you have any trouble getting any of the transmission bell housing bolts off? The main one giving an issue is near the bottom of the bell housing on the left side. It seems seized on and an impact, heat, nor WD40 are even moving it

Drey, old video but damn these exhausts sound sweet. Deeper ones, expansion chambers are pure ear rape. Too high pitched...

So everyone asking how are you doing that rev limiter dound and other similar questions its called 4stroking. Its not because hes lightly holding the kill switch or whatever hes saying hes doing. Its his motor starving for air. Instead of going down on jet size, Put you a little air scoop on your carb intake itll force a little more air into the motor. You will notice an increase in performance and just overall smoother running motor! Let me know if you give it a try.

Great job cleaning the headers and great video on installing them, I've been wanting to do this to my 2 shelbys, my 09 gt500 came with factory manifolds and no cats, I already changed the k-member to BMR tubular so it'll be easy once I get the headers and the h-pipe, my 08 gt350 is still stock so I'll need to get the entire exhaust system for that one.

Why brake fluid and not clutch fluid? Pop quiz... you mentioned less rotational mass of the lightened FW but you didnt explain what that equates to when driving. I will let u post the answer. Also curious if youre experiencing and of the potential drawbacks associated with a lightened FW. Pretty cool u actually weighed them! Thanks for the vid tho very helpful!

This is one of those great little videos that you wanna see after the entire thing has been picked apart in other videos. I'll probably still change out the carb for a Nibbi, a new drive chain and a quality battery.

That’s a stupidest thing you could do to a street car lol, it actually reduces the life of the car. It’s meant for track cars to gain performance but for a price of durability and comfort lol

The reason your front wheel wobbles at speed is that your steering fork is backwards...tucking in the rake angle is going to make it handle a bit weird...having the axle in front of the fork legs will stop the steering 'head shake' at speed

Steel wool plus some lime removal bathroom spray is a lot easier than sanding just fyi. You can then use some metal polish and they should come out looking great.
