I've had that gerber for at least 15 years or more. Lost it a couple years in while fishing. Didn't know I lost it until I couldn't find it days later. The following year I was mowing around the pond and looked down and there it was. Slightly rusted, which came off real easy, and used it daily for years after with no issues. Don't need it much anymore but they are still good as new. I bought a couple newer modles of it a couple years ago when they were dumping them for cheap. I have never needed another brand.

Problem i had when using the Vaseline is the are not as stable as i liked in hot temperatures. They get kind of melty. I have had best luck with charcoal lighter fluid. 75% wax to 25% fluid. One spark will light it up. I have used Vaseline, lighter fluid, cooking oil and even crisco. The crisco is messy I recommend using dental gauss. They are exactly like black beards fire plugs. Ive used bees wax, gulf wax, a mix of the 2. The only thing i haven't tried is tiki candle fluid and lamp oil. Yours are working great. Good job That is one of the other issues i had with the crisco and Vaseline is that it leaked out as it burned. Thanks for sharing

@Robertssurvivalsystems the dental gauss is a lifesaver. I can get about 500 with 1 box of gulf wax. Drop them im by the 100 pull them out and lay them out to dry. Give me an address and I'll send you some to check out of you like You got good burn time with yours. I get around 7 minutes on my plugs.

I really like these for a hard use axe. They aren't very expensive so you don't feel badly using them. Like, really using them. Also, as you noted, they are not great splitting axes due to their thin shape. But for hard use they are sharp and pretty much indestructible.
@Robertssurvivalsystems10 күн бұрын
They are indeed hard to brake. I try and stick to smaller diameter logs and it splits those ok. But it dose cut very well.

Atteood micro cord has a 100lbs test, that is nice and small. The machete is great. A little small when swinging it but for the price its great. I stripped mine and redid the handle and gave it a mustard patina. It looks real good now. I definitely appreciate this little chopper. I would add some way to touch up your edge to the kit, the jungle bowie is budget so the edge will take damage I keep that gerber in the pouch of my Ontario RD6 sheath.
