Great! I have the 360 seat and I thought that I would lose the ability to rotate 360 with this. With the brackets installed I’m still able to rotate 360. The chair frame rubs just a little but nothing to be concerned with. I’m using my U10 for photography so rotating 360 is a plus. 😊

About to go to an Unlimited (hopefully) and expect to move my NK300 to it. My solution for trolling will likely be a lightweight (maybe 30lb or so) trolling motor on the bow, eventually with one of the add on systems that provide a spot lock. I like the fact that that lightweight trolling motor provides a backup to get home in case of NK300 issues, etc.

People often complain about the drainage of the front hatch.. how would you recommend making it more waterproof?
@nucanoeАй бұрын
we made some changes a few years ago that helped with this. Generally if water is getting in the gear vault its from the rain while off the water. Store it upside down, on its side, or using our kayak cover will prevent this.

I see a lot of reviews saying this kayak is tippy and you need to be really centered. Is this true?
@nucanoe2 ай бұрын
Its certainly not as stable as the Frontier or UNLIMITED models, but it has very good stability for a kayak in its class. Starting with the 2024 models, the Flint includes the Low CG base which dropped the seat height by 2-1/2", lowering the center of gravity and making it feel more stable. Once you spend a little time in the Flint and get a feel for it, you'll really appreciate the balance between stabilty and performance.
@jonesjs88982 ай бұрын
@Beyondthebite2024 As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've been fishing from my Flint for a few years now on rivers and lakes. I've never tipped mine (yet 😀). In the kayak world, there are all these trade-offs between dimensions of performance, and since i can't have a lake kayak and river kayak, I decided on the Flint for both situations. I can stand and fish in my Flint, but you need good balance to master it. For example, I still play hockey and have great balance. My buddies fish from a Hobie, and you can do gymnastics in that thing! The Flint excels in rivers, paddling control, and light weight. Plus, I love the open deck, for example, when walleye fishing in the late fall, I can easily put a minnow bucket in front of me for easy access. It does spin more than my buddies yaks, so I use a drag chain more than they do. I'm not a tournament guy, but i do have a decent fish finder that i use with the Nucanoe dashboard. I also love the four rod holders on the Flint. I don't need to use a crate with more rod holders, which is nice. No scupper plugs is also a nice feature, but I'll accidentally free an occasional minnow when my hands are cold. And finally, I'm 6 foot, 180lb if that helps. Hopefully, this helps you. Cheers, JJ
@jonesjs88982 ай бұрын
Hey BtB, hope all is well. As I've mentioned above, I've been in the Flint for more than two years now. I'm a weekend warrior that fishes rivers and lakes in WI. As someone who probably analyzes my kayak purchases WAY too much, I think it comes down to two main questions to consider (1) Do you want to frequently and efficiently stand and fish? and (2) What is the mix of rivers vs. lakes you fish? I say this because there seems to be trade-offs across these two main questions. For example, I would love to have a lake yak (efficiently stand, easily motorize, and less impacted by wind) and a river kayak (light weight, paddling nimbleness around rocks / rapids, low drag for skinny water). However, I have college kids, so I only get one boat! Too answer your question directly and honestly, you need to have a good sense of balance to stand and fish in the Flint, that is not necessarily where it shines. I'm 6' / 180lb guy that still plays hockey, so I have good balance and it still took some practice to get comfortable standing in the Flint. However, I've never tipped it over and I've hit rocks and rapids with it. But I'll give up a little stability for nimbleness in the river; unfortunately, I think it's tough to get high marks on both of those qualities with one boat. Hope this helps and good luck picking out a kayak. I fish with buddies that have Hobies and Vibes. They like them and they are more like the Nucanoe Unlimited, which I see a lot of tournament guys use on YT. Those boats are heavier and do not paddle as efficiently in rivers as the Flint, but you can do gymnastics on them! And I like that Nucanoes are made in the USA. Cheers, JJ

Man, I've been rock'in my Flint for two years now and love it. It does spin a little more than I would like in river current and wind, but I'm getting efficient using the anchor trolley. I do wish the seat was easier to put in and out, but it is very comfortable. I would also love the seat to be lighter since it's a light yak, but that is a nice to have. I plan on getting the NK180 Pro from Santa this year for traveling farther on lakes. Foot steering and quick connect look awesome! Ok, i should stop writing. Cheers, JJ

If you want a kayak that rolls like a barrel, then NuCanoe is for you. I bought one thinking I would be safe taking my camera gear out on the water, boy was I wrong. $2k and first outing on the lake my NuCanoe rolled over when I dipped my paddle to cool it down. I will never be able to use it for what I bought it for.

Which model did you get? I have a flint - and the first couple of times - I rolled mine. But I learned to keep my weight centered. I run in rivers and in the Texas coast and never have flipped it again in 6 years...

@@Beyondthebite2024 It rolled on me just reaching down into the water to cool my paddle. Most stable kayak is one I've owned for 6 years, Lifetime 10 Foot, Two Person Tandem Fishing Kayak , love that lifetime kayak for stability, I can't roll it. The down side to that lifetime kayak is I had no space for camera gear. That is why I spent all that money on the Unlimited NuCanoe, it had great space, lots of rails for mounting things and it was advertised as STABLE. Will it is as stable as a 55 gal drum. I wish lifetime would do a v style hull on a kayak with deck space. If NuCanoe put their Unlimited- deck on Lifetimes v-hull I think that would be the perfect kayak.

would it be easy to switch off between the two seats sometimes (with wife) and 1 seat plus a casting bar (for standing up while fly fishing solo)? how long will a charge on that 50 ah battery last, and is there room there for a 2d battery for either more power or backup? how easy is it to take that motor on and off (for taking it out with just paddles)?

Yes, it is simple to swap between tandem and solo + casting bar. Would take 5 minutes tops. The 24V 50AH battery will last for a full day on the water. There is space and capacity for a 2nd battery. The transom mount trollin motor can be remove in minutes.
