What a great car! The dash would be what they then called an airplane dash! Fabulous Art Deco styling which many people of the time thought was too extreme.

My Dad and I restored one of these between 1979 and 1981 when I was about 16. It would only do about 15 mpg (imperial gallons) so she was expensive to run, but looked beautiful. The vacuum wipers were the worst feature and the brakes are self energising and tend to lock in the wet. This brought back some memories.

Esta marca, siempre fue imponente en su estructura, y sencillo en su estilo,pero, no menos en su capacidad motriz y velocidad por la distribución, y, la relación de caja y diferencial. Cómo mecánico lo admito. Graciassssss.

Remember folks in '36 there weren't many really nice paved roads like now, so 60 was a good speed at the time.

There is one in my cousins garage. It is a '36. It has been sitting there since I was a kid. My uncle brought it home in the 50s. We used to sleep in it among other things. It was in very good shape, body wise but it had a cracked head so I never seen it run. Thanks for the memories.

Why don’t they make cars with all the modern safety features but with the same styling as these super cars instead of same same same boxes.

The 1936-1937 Studebakers were designed by the great Helen Dryden. I believe the 1st woman to design a car. That explains that beautiful Art Deco dashboard.

I am always amazed that for 20+ years cars were boxes on wheels, one looked like another (other than name badge, a few other things) then suddenly, boom, they are rounded, aerodynamic and modern looking. I think the depression had a hand in this, make cars more attractive and different in order to sell them.

I remember seeing these Hudsons on the street when I was a kid. They were becoming more and more rare. And they didn't look nearly this good. They were sort of beat up. Great vid. I had totally forgotten about those pull out ignition switches.

My grandfather's 1935 De Soto Instruction Book identifies his model as the Airstream De Soto Six. Was Chrysler identified as the Air Flow?
@fordtruxdad51552 жыл бұрын
The Airstream was a more "conventional"-looking design than the Airflow.
