Wow 4 months old! And putting in work like this 😬

We got ours from the local animal control. I had been intact for 7 years -and we didn’t get much info on him. We have owned “high energy “ livestock dogs -catahoula, and others-but this dog-it’s intake picture showed a dog down on his luck and desperate-no one was looking at him-so we took a chance. Six months later-we have a fairly well rounded dog. He still is intimidated and strikes out on the horses-on a rare occasion-but we have the words/actions/retreat system down and I’m sure if a bear or moose were to attack me-he would take care of it (hoping that never happens). We are outside all day spring, summer and fall (winter is a quick outside-but he has lots of things inside to keep him active and stimulated. It’s sad that there are so many Mals dropped off at shelters-the new pit bull…..

Would you not recommend this dog if I don’t have a farm? It sounds like this is the only situation in which you should get one.

I adopted a "Labrador retriever" puppy from the SPCA and the ears stood up after a month. DNA has been done. 90 percent Belgian malonois. I was wondering why his overprotective behavior and traits were something I had never encountered. I have a whole new strategy for him now and he's becoming a good boy now that I understand him. ❤❤❤

Excellent advice and recap on life with a Belgian Malinois/Shepard mix. It’s a full time commitment because my dog Ariel is battling me as Alpha everyday. Got her at a shelter after a litter of puppies and obvious great training She does things I’ve never seen a dog do before. Not knowing her history I consulted 4 trainers, took a great class and do the online also. The only thing we have yet to conquer is my understanding why she is other dog aggressive. Not people just dogs. Wish I could get her a day job cause she is a fantastic sniffer, protection and alert partner, yet I guess I am the one who needs to be trained so Ariel has the best life possible.
