Fantastic analysis of those neighbourhoods. Have you made a video about North Kildonan or Transcona? Since most Winnipeggers don't have to venture outside their section of the city, the trope comes up of "driving 30 minutes to another section feels so long and not worth it". Then folks don't travel to different areas, which makes Winnipeg feel "so small" to them. Winnipeg is much bigger than most people realize.

@@codyneustaedterrealestate Yeah, that is crazy! I bought my next house for over $500k but yeah, Winnipeg house prices are wild! The cost of living in Winnipeg is not as low and people like to say. I.e this is a a driving city, our public transportion is not reliable, highest property tax in the entire country, hydro bill is going to be higher than most other places in the country, food is more expensive because it travels to the middle of the country. Products/services are more epxneisve because there is less competition than larger cities. Yes, our houses aren't like Toronto or Vancouver but a lot of the other things cost more here.

No it is not , I spent 13 years there and left for good this year. Manitoba is set to become even more crowded as it's one of the easiest provinces to get PR. There are hundreds of people chasing min wage jobs and the cost of housing is going up. An unrenovated one bed now will set you back around $1100 a month in a descent area. There are homeless encampments all over and it's getting more unsafe with unhinged drug addicts everywhere. Much like the rest of Canada really..
@codyneustaedterrealestate2 ай бұрын
It sounds like a lot of your grievances are with Canada and not Winnipeg. The cost of housing is up less than 4% this year in most areas of Winnipeg which is actually pretty sustainable compared to the rest of Canada.
@lakshaythakur17402 ай бұрын
Hi Cody, can you please make a video on good or bad tenants and what's your opinion on tenants not paying hydro bills which adds up in landlords property taxes. How can we ask such tenants to leave and what will happen if they refuse to leave. Thank you

Hi Cody, Your video came on my feed. My wife is a RN and I'm an accountant. We both have a very comfortable life styles. My wife is Mexican and I'm American and we currently live in Texas. We are nervous with what is going on with Trump back in office. We are considering moving to Ontario Canada. What are your feelings on Americans moving to Canada? I know there is a huge demand for Registered Nurses in Canada. Do you think its a good idea?
@codyneustaedterrealestate2 ай бұрын
Depending on where in Ontario you would want to move, I would research the job market and housings costs. Ontario housing has exploded in the last 5 years. Part of that is because so many people want to live there. There are immigration programs that will streamline your permeant residence and I would research that as well

The IT job market is decent. Winnipeg does not have a lot of “tech” companies so it limits the amount of IT but there seems to always be openings for IT workers. Plus, that is a job where you could find remote work while enjoying the low cost living of Winnipeg!

Hi Cody, do you think buying houses built before 1950s as an investment is a good idea? they are more cheaper but I'm afraid that the repairs might cost more than buying a newer house What's your take on this Thanks. I really enjoy watching your videos.
@codyneustaedterrealestate2 ай бұрын
I put more weight into how a property was cared for then the age of the house. There are new construction homes that get cracks in the basement within the first year because they have bad water drainage. Meanwhile a house built in the 1910’s could have a lot of owners who have cared for the house and done proper repairs over the years keeping it in good shape

There are certain permits you would need to pull to add a legal secondary suite in the basement. If you were just adding a kitchen you would need permits for the appliances (plumbing and electrical)

@@carterdawsonn ... I had to live there for five years. Here are my tips... If you live within the city of Winnipeg, find a home in the Cresentwood or River Heights neighborhoods. Between the street borders of Academy, Harrow, Corydon and Beaverbrook. That's it. If you decide to go outside of the city, then the best areas are; St. Andrew's, West St. Paul and East St. Paul. The winters are brutal and last from late November until mid-April or even May. The only decent weather is between mid-June to mid-September. The economy is weak, and the only nightlife is going to a restaurant. There are a lot of restaurants. If you like hockey (I don't), there are hockey games once in awhile. The crime is terrible in Winnipeg, every single year I had something bad happen to me. Basically, Winnipeg is not a long term place to live. After a few years there, you will most certainly want to move away. I did, and I would never ever go back there, (not even to visit).

I think your video is very educational. In general, Winnipeg (The Forks) is a great choice and does have about a million people living in it. Though it is not a mega region like Greater Toronto (GTA) or Greater Vancouver (The Lower Mainland) with millions of people living in it. With the price-wage index that comes with it. High rent low wages. Unlike Calgary and Edmonton Alberta cities that I like. These centres still have to deal with "boom and bust" cycles. As a result of the gas and oil industry which can be very stressful and problematic. Based on my observations, Winnipeg (The Forks) has done a good job with The Exchange District, The Forks, and other areas. Winnipeg is not inherently "woke," even though the city boasts a fantastic art and culture scene that is less woke and more artistic. I believe this is a result of Winnipeg (The Forks) being a blue-collar city at heart, and I like that. "Takin' Care of Business" means still diverse but a working-class type of a diverse city. I have excluded Montreal, Quebec, since it is hard to make a livelihood there if you do not speak core French. Laws pertaining to the French language, etc.

Yup. If you think that holding onto a stock or asset will pay off in the long run then you can hold onto it. Too many people never try to get out of a bad investment until it’s back to the price they bought because they don’t want to “lose money” but if another stock out performs in that same time span they are better off selling and reallocating
