Great review on Mobot Ovo. Great ebike it is. Well, just one thought to share it here about ebikes if you don't mind. Too bad ebikes are not allow riding on footpaths. I think I could understand why the government doesn't allow this as ebikes could be very dangerous when the motor is turn on and used for riding which could be risky for the pedestrians. However, the problem is that there are not enough shared path or PCN in Singapore and many areas are just filled with footpaths only. Hence ebike users can only choose to ride on the road and recently, according to the news that I just saw this morning, correct me if I'm wrong, I think around 60% of ebikers has got injured in accidents on the road, that number is pretty huge and shocking in my opinion. As the result, riding an ebike on the road is definitely not safe at all as we all know how easy and risky it is to be hit by other vehicles on the road. To be honest, I do feel pity for those food delivery riders which are always having such huge risks in their daily work. As much as I do appreciate the government is now building more and more PCN and shared paths which is truly great news for all ebikers, escooters and cyclists, however I do see a possibility of a temporary solution for ebikers and escooters and that is, maybe for the time being, perhaps they could be allowed temporary (at least for now until all PCN/shared path is fully build) to ride on footpaths only if they turn off their motor and just ride and pedal manually. By doing so, they are just like riding a conventional bicycle (and/or for escooters, they are just using their legs to push and glide their scooters) and that would help to reduce the risks of causing danger to the pedestrians. These are just my thoughts for ebikes and escooters in regards to the possibility of being used on footpaths if permitted by the government. Having said that however, still we must understand that there is a risk that if some riders still choose to ignore the laws by turning on their motors and ride their ebikes or escooters on footpaths, then that would surely be a problem that the government would need to deal with and to enforce the laws such as having more serious punishment being applied to the offenders and etc.

Well these machines are strictly a vending machine and not a cooking robot. The food is prepackaged and frozen until you order it where it via an interior elevator system move the food from the internal freezer to their internal microwave. The recipes are devised by the company itself and if you think the curry is weak, then tell them. Now if the machine was a cooking robot, then we can mod or change the taste profile. These machines though amusing are really no more than a microwaved meal. I don't care if they keep advertising and exclaiming they are all chef created because once it gets frozen, that is what it becomes. A frozen meal, nothing more.

Thanks for sharing. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong, full assist (or throttle control) ebike is not legal in Singapore, only pedal assist ebike are allowed. Anyway this is surely a very stylish ebike, only two problems that I see, 1st: it's just too expensive and not suitable for most budget users. 2nd: it's not foldable, too bad because you can't bring it onto MRT or even put it into the trunk of your car and carry it somewhere far or so. In short, it's not for everyone and only targetted at certain users who are more financially capable (in Malaysia people used to call them "atas" people which means "high class" or the wealthy ones) and also they are not thinking of ever bringing their ebikes onto MRT, if so then this ebike would be a very suitable and stylish choice for them.
@RainingCloudsofBouncingBalls2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I know what you mean & totally agree...so it really depends on your requirements, usage, habits, budget & even if you're comfortable cycling on the road since ebikes can't be on all walkways in Singapore. Oh, this ebike is approved by LTA though (orange seal) so it's not illegal in Singapore.

Do you recharge the battery when you are paddling hard with motor speed off (or at low assist). Or cycling down hill.
@RainingCloudsofBouncingBalls3 жыл бұрын
Nope, the battery doesn't work that way. You have to charge your battery by plugging it into the wall socket.
@TianYu872 жыл бұрын
really cant understand your question... the battery must be charge using wall socket , something like you laptop charger, but is charge to battery... not battery, this ebike not function for pedal assist. then u will only can use you pure leg energy to move the bike, but i told u, i try off the pedal assist for this ebike, the pedal is quite heavy, u need use a lot energy to move this bike , so not battery for this bike, u leg will broken too...
@cvhawkeye62552 жыл бұрын
@@TianYu87 Some motors got regenerative charging, which means if it goes down hill current will reverse to recharge your battery. Some cars have it, I don't know if the technology has reach ebikes.
@RainingCloudsofBouncingBalls2 жыл бұрын
Actually, I used to see old uncles riding such bikes which has a dynamo to charge the battery as you pedal. I think those were sort of the "original" concept for ebikes, but i haven't seen those around for quite sometime...not sure if it's illegal now.
@cvhawkeye62552 жыл бұрын
@@RainingCloudsofBouncingBalls The concept is similar, like the good old days, when we had the dynamo to operate our bike head lights as we paddle. But power electronics are pretty advanced today, in which if senses you are paddling harder than the motor assist, power flows back to the battery to recharge it (and the same hub motor becomes a generator). Maybe in a few years someone will include that function along with regenerative braking.

just a small tip for the symmetry tool, when you use it, you should see a lock symbol, touch it, it gets rid of the circle in the middle but you're still doing symmetry work, not a big deal but it kinda helps, that way if you want to make a detailed center you can, and if you touch the eye when doing symmetry work, the lines disappear, but you're still able to do symmetry work, sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't, depends what I'm doing

Good question! Based on what I heard, yes it's possible to keep going using additional detachable batteries. I'm not sure how much they cost, but Mobot does sell them. If you'll be carrying spare batteries with you, just take note that it weighs around 2kg but quite long & slim in my opinion so it can fit in a backpack.

Yes , u are right, the internal battery which is non removable is very ridiculous , where got everyone move ebike to house for charge zzz... you can only use detachable battery, but my advice, detachable battery only can use for 30 - 40km, because the battery for thie ebike only 7.2ah, and this ebike is heavy... and you will face another problem, your internal battery will damage or spoil if u not charge it... something like your phone, if u battery is empty, u not charge for a time, u battery will Bye Bye...

I cycled this route since 8 years ago. Witnessing the numerous changes along it. When i started cycling along this route, there was no PCN along hougang to Eunos MRT, ECP Macdonald was still around, Downtown line was still under construction, and there were very few cyclists. Now there are more and more cyclists, and more PCNs are going to be constructed. EAst Coast Park has transformed beyond recognition. Time is good for cyclists. Cycling from Hougang to East Coast Park is probably not my favourite route, because it is one of the most polluted route to cycle due to construction, heavy traffic and passing industrial estates such as kaki bukit and Tai Seng. The gem of this route lies with East Coast Park to Garden By the Bay.
@RainingCloudsofBouncingBalls3 жыл бұрын
Yep, totally agree with you there - there's definitely more PCNs compared to the past & cycling is picking up perhaps maybe also due to the pandemic, but it's all good for a healthier lifestyle :) I particularly love going from ECP to Gardens By The Bay & then you're connected to another huge side of the island away from all the traffic. This I think would be the fastest route to get to ECP from Hougang, but yeah pretty polluted since you're cycling near heavy traffic areas & the pathways are kinda narrow to share with pedestrians so you'll have to be careful as well. I prefer going to Changi V & taking the TMCR to ECP if I'm not too tired out.
