THANK YOU, I got a Mapex Venus and its onlt been 2 months. I decided to change the heads and ever since....BZZZ BZZZZZB ZZZZZB ZZZZ every time I hit my tom. I have 1 lug on the kick and 1 lug on the 10" tom....EVERYONE online is like "its your snare" "noob bad tuning on your snare" "snare wires"......Heres the thing, the snares in the living room, its just me a kick and a tom, I knew I wasnt crazy. I kept telling my wife " I swear I hear it IN the hardware" keeps touching the outsides...."I swear Im not crazy" lol. Fixing these bad boys TODAY after work.

That’s great that it’s helped you, they are a pain. It’s not to bad to do, just time consuming.

@@PaulAnnis Just to be safe (id hate to have to do it twice) Just jam foam/felt in there lol? 2 years after the video, anything you would add/change now? Ill be doing this repair in about 8 hours lol. Thanks again!

@@DPW13 yep, that will work. It’s just to stop them falling apart inside. If it was a guitar you’d use some ‘tone foam’ 😆 But us drummers are happy with anything that works

You need your action adjusted. Too much string buss but when you adjust it you will love it !! I own 2 of these one is a 2009 road star orange colour and I own a 2022 veil matte blue. Both superb instruments

The RME sounded better at first, but I have a doubt about the bass, like I'm missing information on the RME's bass sounds.

Hey Paul, old video, but skunk stripe = 1 piece! and they were often quarter-sawn, something you'd only find on Custom Shop Fenders... these Modern Player and Classic Vibe series in China were better than anything currently out by Fender, I guarantee you.

I have this one and the pickups are awful...low output...replaced all the pots and it still sucks. I have to invest in better electronics for sure.

Great video. The difference really comes down to what sound you prefer. The American sounds brighter. Great for traditional jazz but the warmer MIM would sound better with Latin Jazz - no pun intended.

Hey Paul (Stick)! I was just watching a new Rob Chapman video and you were in a short clip. I left a comment and Rob reminded me of your last name so I could look you up. I used to really enjoy watching the two of you all those years ago. Hope all is well with you. Glad to see you're still making videos. Best wishes!

Hi, how's it going? Thanks for dropping me a message! Yep, still making music but not doing much on YT these days, I post the odd bit here and there. Got my band Gramma Vedetta if you've not checked us out, which is great fun, nice and heavy but a bit different. Also doing lots of other things, just done some dates with Dan Byrne which was awesome! Top guy and wicked band. Yeah, those days were fun, shame it all ended the way it did but there you go. Take care, Paul / Pablo / Stick.... LOL

Great to hear from you. I get nostalgic watching those old videos. I listened to some of your recent music and I liked what I heard. I subbed so I'll look forward to watching the next time you put something up. Best wishes!

I have the 5er...monster tone with huge range. Ridiculous VFM - you will have to look long and hard to find a better bass for your money (vintage Yamaha TRB or BBG5S excluded) - not many basses this good in the price range. Love Mine!!

The only issues I found with this was the stupid screw inlets on the pickups which made it uncomfortable to rest my thumb when I played mine. I sold it but got a bargain, never gigged SR300E with the tap switch. The jack socket isnt practical if you have a right-angled jack plug on your lead....

hey Paul nice job! Question, that bass sounds very balanced compression wise, in fact all the demos Ive seen are as well... is it that good across all 4 strings or did you use some compression in your demo?
@PaulAnnis
@PaulAnnis Жыл бұрын
Hi, well this was a looooong time ago! But, I never did 'polish' any of the audio from the demos, the idea was to be as honest as possible and to try and get the instruments tone across the best I could,, so no compression from my side :)

ATK 200 user since 2012. Used it in almost all styles I can play, I've played it with both fingerstyle and a pick. For my main tonal experience, I use the middle pick up which sounds like a stingray but I use the neck in songs that require a pbass sound.

So appreciate your review. After 10 years it is still relevant as we are still picking them up used at reasonable prices. Why? Because they stand the test of time. Like used Toyotas, the just keep soldering on. Lastly, yours is the only review where you use the same base line for the various pickup and tone selections. From an engineers perspective, this provides a true apples to apples comparison. Keep up the good work my friend your right on the mark.

It's wicked! Love the Brooklyn kit and wherever I play it gets the love, especially the 24x14 kick! I really enjoy it with a solid head on the front and just a felt strip on both sides but sound engineers always want to put a hole in it! So I've got myself a LoFReQ Sub-Mic by Solomon to take out with me LOL That on the front and a 52a round the back should do the job nicely. I should do a video on it, if people are interested!?!?
