Just a word of warning, if your are setting your shadow draw dist. to effectively infinite, you are going to effectively murder Realtime runtime performance. This is fine for what seems to be the demographic of the video offline rendering, but in a game dev situation this would not be feasible

Some steps maybe but I’d be hard pressed to see the industry suddenly put all its trust in AI in only a couple of years. It’s good but it’s not that good. And when it is, there will still be an adoption phase and I’m sure it will still need human input via parameters.

I usually duplicate my project and delete the fluid sim, because sometimes it will try to recalculate the sims in the background when you play the timeline.

Sometimes alembics are unpredictable in blender tbh. They are working on that tho. I’ve seen tasks on their developer site in regard to alembic speeds. If the baked sim is faster, just use that!

What about CG lighting in Houdini or Katana. Do you think AI can automate/replace this job? Asking as a current CG lighting artist!
@owenjenkinsofficial2 ай бұрын
I think with the level of intentionality that a good lighting artist has, not yet, because you are making clear and deliberate creative decisions where as the AI can only rely on what it knows of lighting and may restrict itself to simpler, rule based stuff

Hi Owen sir I’m working on a simple animation project in Unreal Engine 5.4. It’s a 10-15 minute documentary-style video for KZbin in 1080p, featuring MetaHumans and city life scenes. I’m sourcing assets from Sketchfab and will do color grading in DaVinci Resolve 19. Since I’m not creating games, I’m focused on keeping Unreal’s size small and optimizing performance for smoother viewport and faster rendering. Could you make a video covering all possible ways to optimize Unreal Engine for animation projects like mine? It would be incredibly helpful to learn how to manage MetaHumans, streamline rendering, and keep the project lightweight. Thanks so much in Advance
@owenjenkinsofficial3 ай бұрын
@CGToonStudio I don’t know if you can reasonably fit all those things into one video but I could use them as inspiration for future videos. If I am honest, I am NOT an expert at optimizing file sizes and debugging projects. That’s probably the area I have the least experience in unreal engine. Most of my project files end up being pretty dang massive and I just migrate project files that are being used and then delete the old file with all the stuff I am not using. That’s the best way I know to keep file sizes small when it comes to storage. I have UE5 files that are like 100GB before I migrate them. 😂 but most do not get that massive. I usually just end up importing tons of assets and using them to kitbash and then use the migration feature to filter out all the unused data and delete it.

@Racio00 Industry minimum standard is 16gb ram and an 8GB vram card. You can get by for sure with lower than that. I have a laptop that works good and is 6GB vram and 32GB ram.
