That season of 1967 there was a pennant race with the White Sox, Red Sox, Tigers, and Twins. It was the Red Sox who captured the American League pennant.

The Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is about the love of a sport and family of winners and losers that had fun for over a hundred years. Never let this die because this track can entertain millions more. It use to hold the state record for the largest crowd at a sports event. No matter what we race in the future this track would be good for it.

I remember that horror of 1971 my first year of school. Was dang near a riot the first day. My parents put me in private school after that thank God. That's when private schools popped up everywhere in Nashville for the White kids. I graduated in 83 the year of this broadcast.

I can't believe that ESPN would've even put the money into sending out a crew to film a midget race....This is the infancy of ESPN and cable TV for that matter. ....ESPN took a HUGE risk when it started the whole thing that's why I can't believe they spent the money to send out a whole crew to Terre Haute Indiana for a midget race when in 1980 ESPN and cable networks were mostly bleeding cash !.....It obviously paid off in the end look at ESPN now....Actually it sucks now but hey I like the good ol days !....

Seeing this looking at the background is like going home. I lived 1/4 mile from the silver fox .I talked to him on several occasions at his property. He was a good friend of a uncle of mine also a older guy I worked with was also a friend of both of them. I asked Mr. Pearson about them he told me to tell them to look him up and give him a call so they could catch up with each other. He was a class act and a great man. R.I.P. SILVER FOX

I’ve come to really love Buddy Baker after re-engaging with “Winston Cup” or Grand National racing the past year, given how many races are available here on YT. The drivers in these golden years were all such characters and each seemed to have hundreds of stories about stock car drivers and races. Waltrip always had something to say, but even guys who were a little more reserved, like Baker or Pearson, were so funny and so charismatic.

The person who filmed this '67 I.R.P. Indy race ( the late, great Robin Miller, maybe, as one comment stated?) seemed to like following car # 90 a lot. I wonder (without looking up car numbers and drivers of the U.S.A.C. sanctioning Indianapolis Champ cars of 1967) if that driver was Mike Mosley? The following year (1968) Mosley was driving an A.J. Watson prepared car for that year. Anyway...who won that Raceway Park road course event? I'll have to look it up somewhere.

The King was an excellent representative to the fans! Guys like him grew the sport to its peak! We can all put it on Earnhardt or Gordon but the King brought them all to that level! Always seemed like a hardworking, blue collared man that fans could look up to. We lost that when all the teams went looking for "the next Jeff Gordon".
@tnwhiskey689 ай бұрын
He definitely goes down as a great! I'm sure some hated him and others loved him, but either way, his impact was massive!
