1978 Nashville Fairgrounds racing and wrecking!

Another digitized Ricky Haynes 8mm film from 1978. Practice, races, and lots of wrecking. I count over 20 crashes and a dozen more harmless spins. Lots of stars in this one - Donnie Allison, Steve Spencer, and Mike Alexander put on a good battle. Also shown are Darrell Waltrip in the Gatorade Nova, Butch Lindley, Bob Pressley, Gene Morgan, Sterling Marlin, and all the local guys.

WOW! Many of the legends of late 70’s late model sportsman racing in here! Wonder what division it was that had the camaro’s in it? They weren’t a legal body style in NASCAR sanctioned LMS racing back then.

I spotted two cougars, no not in the stands, #66 looked like an old long nose 73 and #56 a 68. That was rare for someone during this era, everything was novas, camaros and chevelles.
