Is the chord progression for Hotel California in there?

great song! How to create that sound (main melody) from Juno 60?
@AlessandroGiancane18 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for the appreciation! That sound is very easy to reproduce with almost every synth: it is basically a pulse/square wave, as you can desume in the video from the panel of my Juno (the sub oscillator is also active). What can make the difference is the built-in chorus: the Juno's is distinctive!

Takes me back to the wonderful early 80s, you absolutely got this spot on, the power of those sounds is incredible
@AlessandroGiancaneАй бұрын
Thank you Richard, glad you liked the sounds. It actually takes me quite a bit of time to find/recreate the sounds, with mixed results... The problem is that a good part of the result depends on the combination of equalization, compression, reverb, etc.; as a self-taught person, this is the most complex and often unattainable part for me; my mixes almost always sound decent on one device and terrible on another. 80s music is a great training ground to try to improve myself. Thanks for the comment!

Excellent work!! The sounds are identical to the original. However in this video, the famous synth riff based on F, Dm, B, C chord progression is missing. An other video with this sound would be great or if you could tell us which synth patch is used.
@AlessandroGiancaneАй бұрын
Hi @tylerdurden2769, thank you for the comment and the appreciation. In this video I show a patch I programmed on the Roland SH-201: being the keyboard splittable in only two parts, I decided to put together two sounds that are actually played during the verse and the bridge; the sound of the main riff is played alone and it requires a different patch. In another video I made the full instrumental cover of Enola Gay, in which all the sounds are audible

@AlessandroGiancane2 ай бұрын
ah ah ah, you're absolutely right :-) That tiny sound actually characterizes the whole drum part! Just one behind the scenes: I read somewhere on the web that in the original song both Mike Ogletree and Mel Gaynor played the drum part simultaneously, in order to build a powerful rithmic sound. In my own little way, I tried to reproduce it: there are two distinct sets of drums playing in my cover. The result is not exactly the same as the original song... but at least I tried!

Pretty wild song, almost the anthem for the way the world is being driven now by a crazy Chauffeur to our death, but he is trying to take good times along the way with him. Was pretty popular song in the early 80's seems the melody is more locked in time with those notes of not long ago, yet so far away era....

Vorrei chiederti una info:che preset hai utilizzato sulla jx10?
@AlessandroGiancane4 ай бұрын

Thank you very much for the comment and the appreciation. About the sounds, especially the percussive ones, it's easy for them to sound very different on different listening devices. This is unfortunately the big problem I run into every time I make a cover: trying to get a decent mix that can sound decent when listened to with speakers other than my KRKs. Then there's the issue of YT compression (and all streaming platforms), which is really a pain... Anyway, comments like yours encourage me to do better in the future! Thanks again :^)
