Good Supernatural comic was Two Moons CREATORS Valerio Giangiordano John Arcudi starts the long journey of a young Pawnee man named Virgil Morris-aka Two Moons-fighting for the Union during the Civil War. At some point, I would love to see the two of you do a read through the Karl Kesel/Dave Taylor Batman and Superman: World's Finest mini-series. It may be somewhat difficult to find as DC has not kept that title in print. It should be worth your effort to track down. Also would love to see you discuss a few Superman single issue and/or short stories. I would be particularly interested in your opinion of Hitman #34.

Omnidog, Silent Night of the Batman is a backup story in Batman 219. It is penciled by Adams. Batman 309, Have Yourself a Deadly Little Christmas by Len Wein. The Frank Miller issue you were.thinking of was "Santa Claus: Wanted Dead or Alive" from DC Special Series #21 by Denny O'Neil, Frank Miller and Steve Mitchell.

Omnidog, have you ever done an overview of the Englehart/Rogers run on Detective Comics? A legendary run that needs a definitive collected edition like an absolute.
@OmnidogsVault9 күн бұрын
I don't think I have anything complete, just the Tales of the Dark Knight Marshal Rogers book. Is there something out there that collects all of it?
@paulmcgrew29329 күн бұрын
@@OmnidogsVaultTales of the Batman Steve Englehart. Lots of overlap with the Rogers collection. BUT it has Detective Comics 439, one of the greatest single issues of Batman ever. Both collections are long out of print. I have the digital copies, thus my desire for an absolute to collect all of Englehart's and Rogers' work over the years, sort of like the Geoff Johns Gary Frank Superman Absolute.

I think it's good that Peter and Mary Jane move on from each other. It seems unhealthy to be in a relationship with the same person you dated in high school and uni. Yes it exists in the real world, but not nearly as common as meeting your spouse later on in life. It shows progression of character that they are different people now.
@ReaperXC11 күн бұрын
Steve and Beau, how do you feel the Australian public/society reacts to comic readers? I'm in Melbourne and unless other people share that they have read comics or are interested in tangential media do I ever talk about my love and passion for comics. A large portion of my workplace would just torment me if I seen reading them. So I only bring digital comics to work to read away from others.
@seanmontgomery906611 күн бұрын
Would love to see a Black Orchid Absolute, but it would be a bit thin. How about a 'DC by Dave McKean' omni, which could include all of his covers for Hellblazer, The Dreaming, Dead Boy Detectives (just the art, no text/logo). The 'Hold Me' story from Hellblazer. Any Sandman stuff that's not collected in the existing Absolutes. Maybe Mr. Punch (although the original is already oversize). My other dream Absolute would be one that collects work by Jon Muth, particularly the series Moonshadow. It was originally done for Marvel's Epic imprint back in the 80s, but Vertigo reprinted it in the 90s, so it seems like it could qualify. Moonshadow, along with the sequel, would fill an Absolute all on their own. But there was also 'Blood: A Tale', and his Dracula graphic novel. For DC, there was The Mystery Play, and Swamp Thing: Roots.

Quality of scans could be a problem. Linework reproduction in some of collected editions (Twilight tpb, Longbow omni, mentioned in video Camelot 3000 deluxe) is nowhere near as good as in original comics.

These would be my choices. Absolute Man of Steel by John Byrne. I'd love to get his full Superman run in Omnibus format, but in the Absolute format I'd love to get just the first six issues of the original Man of Steel mini-series so that I can put it on my shelf next to my Absolutes of Batman: Year One and George Perez's Wonder Woman reboot. I'd also like to see it recolored (maybe they could include new coloring and original coloring like Batman: Year One and The Killing Joke). Keep the coloring flat and graphic, but with better color choices (I think the color choices on the MoS mini-series were pretty garish). Something like Dave Stewart's coloring on DC: The New Frontier, which was also flat and graphic, but whose color choices were more sophisticated. Absolute The Winter Men by John Paul Leon and Bret Lewis. This was originally published under DC's Wildstorm imprint. I'm not sure if DC still owns the publishing rights to this or if they reverted back Leon's estate and Lewis. But that was a stunningly beautiful book that I'd love to get in an oversized format (I also have the Artist's Edition). Absolute Human Target by Greg Smallwood and Tom King. I agree with you on this. This may be the most beautifully drawn comic I've ever seen. Absolute History of the DC Universe by Perez and Wolfman. With all of the Graphitti Edition extras from the '80s, plus the B&W portfolio pieces. Sure, it was out of date almost as soon as it was published, but Perez and Kesel's work is beautiful. Absolute World's Finest by Steve Rude and Dave Gibbons. Gorgeous artwork. Absolute Superman #400. For anyone who's never read it, this may be the best single issue of Superman ever published (in 1984). The collection of artists is AMAZING. Absolute Orion by Walt Simonson. For me, this series was Simonson's best artwork. Some of the layout design work in this book is amazing and deserves to be seen at a larger size. Absolute Catwoman by Darwyn Cooke. Selina's Big Score, the Detective Comics backup stories by Ed Brubaker and Cooke, and the first four issues of the Brubaker/Cooke Catwoman series. Absolute Batman and Robin: Year One by Chris Samnee and Mark Waid. I know that this series just started coming out, but this series is stunningly beautiful. So get the Absolute Edition on the schedule now. Absolute Black Orchid by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. I also agree with you on this choice.

The 2 books that spoke to me on your list Camelot 3000 & Batman: Taos of the Demon, but I prefer older stories anyways. 1 I’d add would be the Detective run from Englehart & Marshall Rogers, from the 70s. 2 of the highlight stories were the Deadshot story in 473 and the Jokerfish story in 475. This run was most recently collected in Tales of the Batman: Steve Englehart in 2020

Batman the cult Batman secrets Batman/ghosts by Sam Keith, Green Arrow year one by Diggle Green arrow lemire & sorrentino Swamp thing by Snyder & paquette Earth One titles batman, supes, WW etc Nightwing the new order Gotham by Midnight vol 1 & 2 combined by Fawkes I'd like to see them break into more vertigo and black label titles. Black orchid was an awesome choice. I'd maybe like to see......
