Really nice work, I'm thinking about trying to build a blanket box like this too. I'm debating whether to do the Moser-style or a more conventional drawer opening. As much as I like the continuous grain flush drawer, I kind of hate to make that wasted space on both sides of the drawer because you have to make the drawer around 3" narrower on each side. Maybe I could put some secret compartments in those spaces (don't tell anyone!) Anyway, great job and thanks for the build video!

I really like it a lot. Having a 12 inch jointer is a plus. The only thing I would change is getting the helical head versus the street knife.

For those watching, end grain actually glues up stronger than cross grain because the glue can soak into the fibers. The whole, "don't glue the end grain" is a myth.

I was bugging tf out watching him use that chisel... he is lucky it didnt slip/wasn't sharp. I've done it to myself too many times, with a sharp chisel it just takes the smallest tap and your looking at white meat wondering if it's bone

It's beautiful!!! Awesome work! I used to use a 10mm blade. Has a thick (8mm) Balsa inner core, and a layer of texalium (fiber glass aluminum), and limba outer veneer. It's one of the fastest rackets ever made.

Hi Jody. I saw your video about replicating the Thomas Moser Blanket Box. You did a beautiful job. I was wondering if you'd like to make a custom Blanket Box for me, with a few small changes from the Thomas Moser one. 20" tall X 24" wide X 16" deep. Thank you.

The attention to detail and your personal design choices make a very nice chest. Just one thing, that center punch you used to position the hinge? It looks like a Vix Bit. That goes in your drill to center and pre drill then holes. Carry on.

I’m making the same music stand now. In the plans I don’t see the final leg thickness and width, do you recall what you used?
@jodyswoodworking5477

My legs are 5/8”x1.5”. They have some flex to them so it wouldn’t be bad idea to go a little thicker if you want. Have fun.

If you want to try to salvage a warped blade or plywood blank microwave it for 30-45 seconds. Use some gloves to try and bend it back to being flat. This works with wood glue not epoxy

Great job, loved the Spalted maple drawer with the cherry front plate, nice surprise when u open the drawer on the eyes, imo. Not crazy about the door pulls. The price is whatever someone will pay but $300 is way too cheap, it’s a great looking chest and the craftsmanship outstanding, again imo.

Moser is selling it now for $5,900 in cherry ($7,725 in walnut), plus $595 for shipping and any state sales tax. Almost $7,000 to ship it to me.

hi.. you can try when cutting the rubber, use balsa wood as base, or polyfoam 5mm, or even a corrugated card board can do the trick. use a sharp cutter (x-acto kinda blade). i tried using cutting mat but not as good as using polyfoam board.

Jody - Looks great! It looks like you used the 1-1/8" x 5/8" base cap for trimming the 3 panels - just as Jon Peters specifies in his plans. Can you tell me where you sourced that molding? I'm having a hard time finding any base cap that's smaller than 1-3/8" x 11/16". Thank you.
