Some great ideas Karl. I particularly liked the idea of giving specs of an elaborate room trap to the players beforehand and having them plan the infiltration like it's mission impossible or something.
@Karlmakesstuff4 күн бұрын
Thank you 😁 quite like that one too. And just because they have the plans it doesn't mean there won't be some unpredictability once they start the infiltration too :)

Regular old milliput. It's a bit more brittle than green stuff but it's a lot easier to work with in my opinion. Trying to move on to heat-curing putties now, but I still use milliput for a lot of casual sculpting.

Nice takeaways, Karl. Good stuff, especially about game flow, multiple choices, and sometimes fighting is _not_ the best idea
@Karlmakesstuff4 күн бұрын
Thank you Cross! I think that apart from multiple ways of solving something, throwing in multiple conditions which must all be met to solve a situation can make for a nice twist. It also gives more things for non-combat oriented PCs to do in combat scenes rather than just be heal or buff bots. The ideal situation would be for each player to have at least two viable choices of action to have to think about. Maybe not more than three though, that could start slowing things down.

Are we? What I got out of that conversation was that a thought experiment about using d&d undead as basically machinery is creepy but I could see that. Tom reminded me that in some separate zombie lore they're brainwashed rather than dead, which is a whole different can of worms which wouldn't fly as player behaviour at my table. As something a villain would be doing though, yeah. Putting a stop to bad guys who mind control the people they put against the players is practically a trope.

In general scatter terrain will give you a lot more mileage! I don't think I'd build something like this for a ttrpg as it would only ever be used once. On the other hand, now it's built I might use it in one 😁

Looking great Karl! I loved how you made the pillars with the proxxon gig, by now I'm using a homemade one made with cardboard, but I don't think I can achieve that accuracy. I also enjoyed that lower door to the dungeon or whatever and the small balcony on the ruins to place some minis. 😁😁
@KarlmakesstuffАй бұрын
Thank you! The circle cutting jig 2.0 has stop blocks on the rail, which lets you get back to an exact distance; and the pillar cutting jig is good for long, thin pillars so it's really good for precision. The first version didn't have those, so I just used a homemade one too back then :) The door is just decoration (though it could easily be an in-game objective!) but the balcony and upper floor are useful for gameplay - any time you create multiple levels, it creates new tactical options ;)
@Sahaak_CraftАй бұрын

Awesome work Karl! The bricks and stones are fabulous and the cleat idea is damn smart! One could build a whole range of these that either match, or not, and just have them all displayed on their wall next until gameplay. Respect.
@KarlmakesstuffАй бұрын
Thank you mate! Yes, you could have a whole scene with these. Especially if you try make them match up, then you could even set them up as larger tables ;)
