I don’t know what model I have but mine looks identical. I bought it in 1988 and paid $400. (US) I haven’t rode it in 20 years as I lost interest. Then I didn’t take care of it either. It sat outside for years. But, it doesn’t appear that bad. Now at 69 I’m thinking about getting a ebike, but yet wonder why not just put money into the Miyata. When I first bought the bike I could believe how easy it was to peddle and ride.
@hervedelnorte79283 күн бұрын
Thanks Dennis. Well if you feel like you have the energy to ride a typical bike it could be fun fixing it up again. Some people have told me they’ve adapted 700 C wheels to them as well which I’ve been thinking of doing just to get more common tires. This would probably allow you to put wider tires on it as well, but I’d have to check on that. But I know a lot of people are getting E bikes now which certainly makes sense as you get older. But I think I’m gonna try and hold off on that for as long as I can.😊

Thanks very much Pat! Bandit does indeed seem to be adapting well to our household. She pushes Zoey too much on the playing sometimes so we have to separate them a bit. Thanks very much. You are a keen observer. Surprisingly, her foot was not hurt. She said her toes instinctively curl up quickly if she senses a horse may step on her. The one horse is on a lead to keep the horses together. The young horse will stay with the older horse on the lead. If both were free, they might take off and run off the farm potentially.

@hervedelnorte792814 күн бұрын
Thanks. With our winters bees would not survive in such an open box. We do get wasps sometimes build small nests on the inner roof but they can be built each spring and summer so you’d need to check each season.

Happy New Year! Fond memories of numerous guided hikes I did there between 1996 and 2014. We did the same trail, but starting our hike at the campground parking lot, and following pretty much the same trail as you did. However, we never took Third Depot Lake Rd., but rather, followed the network of trails from the Third Depot Lake dam that ultimately took us back to the start of Third Depot Lake Rd, close to the junction of the main road. Also led many canoe/kayak tours from Third Depot Lake to Fourth Depot Lake. Certainly one of my favourite destinations.We are so lucky to have these special places.

Happy New Year Terry! Sounds like we both have a fond place in our hearts for Depot Lakes. It really is a nice chunk of semi-wilderness on the edge of more developed southern Ontario. I don’t often hike there in winter so today was a nice departure from that trend. 😊

I've found that my dual-stroke bell is greatly appreciated by others on the trail. They cost from $8.00 to $20.00 in most shops or online. They can give up to 50 metres warning so others are prepared in advance.

What a HUGE surprise! Thanks for this. I rode from Sharbot Lake to Clarendon Station on Sep 14 2024 and none of the work beyond Clarendon Station looked like it was even going to be done at that time. Is that a #50 High SPEED ROLLER CHAIN? You might want to compare that small sprocket to a new sprocket .... on motorcyles or anything that has sprocket, if the teeth are pointed they are worn out and ( They ARE SUPPOSE TO BE FLAT ON THE TIPS )THEY will wear the chain out faster because it will allow the chain to move all over the place and will not stay aligned properly or stay tight! REMEMBER: IF ONE SPROCKET IS WORN AND NEED REPLACED YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE ALL OF THE SPROCKETS IN ORDER TO "SAVE THAT CHAIN !

Another excellent Friday evening video Todd. Thank you! Great topic, om survival of the fittest. I have to admit, if I ever have had the chance to intervene for the underdog, I will wherever I can. When I used to see one of our cats toying with a captured mouse, I would immediately take the cat into the house. Letting the mouse escape. Of course, this flirtation with death or survival, is necessary for creatures to evolve. To allow them better odds for survival. Thank you, for this thought provoking topic. Enjoy a wonderful weekend! Pat
@hervedelnorte7928Ай бұрын
Thanks Pat. Yes lots to ruminate about on this topic. The introduction of non-native species into ecologies all over the world has caused huge losses in native wildlife populations. It is estimated that domestic cats and feral cats kill millions of individuals of our wildlife each year. They are one of the worst impacts humans bring into an area when they arrive. That’s why I don’t really like them wandering around on the farm but these ones are virtually wild. I don’t blame the cats themselves as they are not here of their own volition. Have a good weekend!

Yeah, if they dropped me off buck wild naked in the middle of nowhere in the freezing winter, it'd be a tough one indeed. We don't start from nothing though - that's how life works. What people are most in danger of these days is wanton ignorance, apathy, and placated contentment.

Good points. But even with a good set of cloths and some tools, surviving winter north of snowline would be difficult. Even for a small group of people. Going back to my video I was just marvelling at how tiny, seemingly frail birds can tough out winters that we can’t make it through.
