How long do you let the ink dry before testing for water resistance? I sketch with a Pilot Varsity with medium nib and it isn't waterproof at all. I do not get the same results that you get with your "V" pen. Perhaps there is some difference between the Varsity and "V" pen? Thanks for your videos, really enjoy them.

How fast ink dries really depends on which ink you use. You will have to test them. Some watersoluble inks will be 100% soluble, while some will leave the initial line even if you try to wash the ink away.

I use waterproof black drawing ink a lot with dip pens. I've found that acrylic ink flows more smoothly and reliably than indian ink. Like you say, acrylic ink is fully waterproof when dry so it doesn't smudge when you brush a colour wash over the top. Indian ink is very variable in how waterproof it is. I don't bother with it anymore. I just put permanent (lightfast) ink in a fountain pen and sketch with that. It's easier!

Hi, I'm having Fabriano a lot of trouble getting hold of 100% cotton watercolor paper. Yes, I can only get hold of 25% cotton, acrylic paper and hot press. I live out in the country, my old painter I could buy all my materials. Unfortunately he died many years ago. Our beloved artist Bror-Erick..

please tell me how can I connect this tablet 22 plus to a laptop? The thing is that I have one USB C port which is connected to the monitor, and I want to additionally connect the tablet). Via cable display port? laptop - monitor - tablet, or laptop - tablet - monitor? I don’t have the opportunity to test (it’s a pity that I didn’t buy a laptop with two USB C ports)

It makes me sad when I see kids doing the most beautiful artwork in Bic Crystal biro pen which is the least lightfast of every medium I know. I wanted to test fluorescent acrylic paints which I've heard are highly "fugitive" so I put some squiggles in my window, along with samples of every pen i could find. The ballpoint ink was fading literally within days and after 5 weeks the black ballpoints has faded lighter than pencil while every fluorescent colour continued to glow with the exception of violet which now looks a pastel purply shade. I'm an illustrator so most of my art is created to be photographed but I think it's ridiculous not to use fully lightfast and permanent colours when they're no more expensive. Mostly I work with Indian ink (or something equivalent to that: waterproof black ink) and I use acrylics for colour. That's my mark on the world and I want my marks to be longlasting!🎉 It doesn't matter if most things will stay in a sketchbook. I want to know that I can stick something on a wall, put it on exhibition if needs be or sell it. And for that you need proper artist's quality colours!🖌️✍️💜💓🐦🍏💛🧡❣️

I see you have an 'Ink template' file. What different about that vs. the Concepts default 'new drawing'?
@teohyc
@teohyc 6 күн бұрын
You can open a new file, select your favourite 8 tools/colours, and close the file. That's your template that you can duplicate and get back your preset tools. New created files will always use the tools you were using from the previous artwork. E.g. If you end your previous artwork with all pencils, and you create a new file, you will get all those pencils again. So if I want to create an ink drawing, I duplicate a template that has ink pens, otherwise just created a brand new file will give me all those pencils which I do not want.

Had Concepts years ago and it drove me crazy. The wheel used to disappear. It still does if you keep it set to the uppermost top corner. Figure that one out and it's smooth. Great App. Most really don't need more than the free version for urban sketching. Kinda like a Freeform big brother. Great sketch ... as usual.

Great sketch! I love Concepts, it's a terrific app and feels the closest of any drawing app to a sketching experience in my opinion. Any tips on use of colours and how to maintain colour harmony whilst using the Copic wheel? (by the way, I think you easily get great colour harmony because you're a terrific artist 😂)
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 күн бұрын
Believe or not, the strange thing about this app is you can get the colours to work harmoniously easily without much difficulty. When choosing grays, one should stick to either cool, warm, tone or neutral family, and not mix the grays

Hi Teoh, working digitally has a lot of advantages, like flexibility and ability to edit or delete elements. One thing that I do not like so much compared to paper though, is the ability to zoom and rotate. This is great when working at details and finetuning. But when drawing and sketching on paper I see all elements at a glance and I will not be tempted to add very small details. Even though it is possible to work at one zoom level in a digital app, but still the feeling is different than paper and I tend to lose the overview of the picture and focus too much on small details. Do you have any ideas on how to handle this? Do other people prefer to disable zooming and rotating the canvas?
@jmbosquesillo7203
@jmbosquesillo7203 7 күн бұрын
When out sketching, I personally disable anything that allows the 'puter to draw instead of me. If that makes any sense. No zoom, no snap, no grid, no fill ... that's for all the art Apps I may have available.
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 күн бұрын
Just creating drafting lines to mark out the composition first, then draw within the shapes. Once you run out of space or you don't know whether you should add more details, stop. I only use a single brush size for drawing. That makes it almost impossible to draw details unless the brush size is reduced. Maybe I will make a tutorial on this.

@@teohyc Oh, I have one of those. 100ml if I'm not mistaken. Bought it after watching your videos. 😊 I'm just missing a recipient of sorts to wash my brush. I've tested the vitamin bottle I told you about earlier and it can take 100ml full. The downside is that the glass is tinted, so I won't be able to see how dirty the water is. Worthy trade off? Haha!
