@zotanzero sorry it didn't help. If I remember correctly it was just 3 bolts and I tightened them with wrenches. If you remove the pulley it's easier to tighten the bolts but I didn't have to do that because my replacement was a complete set up. I imagine tightening the pulley bolt would be similar, I prefer wrenches because you can grab a cheater to get more torque if needed.

You can remove the pulley but that just gives you easier access to the mounting bolts of the pump. If you're new water pump doesn't have a pulley than it's easiest to pull the pulley while the belt is still on. If the new pump includes a pulley, you don't need to remove it and you save steps

I love my duratec. The main issue with it is the tappet lifters if you want a rebuild. I'm still not able to find a shop to rebuild mine and Ford won't touch it because of its age. But as far as reliability, ease to work on (outside of a engine internals) and overall performance it's a full win in my book. Both engines hit almost 300k before getting tired. Decent fuel efficiency for a 23 yr old engine but with my utility shell on it was a brick in the wind and she topped out around 60 mph. With a streamlined shell or no shell at all she never had an issue getting up to speed and trailer loads were fine. I never had more than 1k lbs on the trailer but never had an issue pulling, and actually got better fuel economy because there was more weight on the rear axle. It's rated for a higher tow weight than the 3.0 or 4.0 v6s. Hope this helped, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask away.

@JustinJoyinglife Жыл бұрын
@rogerthat.9105 I've gotten new carbs before that were faulty so that's a possibility as well. That's where I'd start, while it's off, check the flow through the fuel line by draining into a clean container. It could be gunked up in the tank or hose limiting flow. If both of those check out, my next step would be to check compression once the engines hot because it could be losing compression due to the head/block expanding from heat. But I have honestly not seen that in any of the engines I've worked on.

I had the same trimmer too can you tell me how many turns you have it set at? Like two turns from screwed in all the way or two full turns from fully loose counterclockwise. Something tangible. Thanks so much for your help here and video
@JustinJoyinglife2 жыл бұрын
I have the butterfly valve turned open just barely for the air and then the high and low jets are 1 1/2 turns out to start. To add fuel (rich) to the air mixture you back the jets out or turn counterclockwise. To remove fuel (lean) you would screw them clockwise or in. The jet closest to the engine is the low end mixture (idle to mid throttle) and the jet closest to the air filter is the high jet (mid throttle to full). The goal is to make a smooth transition from idle to full throttle to give more control over the string. I start with the attachment off in order to set the engine without a load, then I recalibrate with the attachment on and then if needed will adjust once under full load working conditions. Thanks for the view and comment.
@NiNjaTurtLe6972 жыл бұрын
@@JustinJoyinglife thanks! I think for me it's just the idle issue. Can you see what your idle screw position is? THANK YOU!
@JustinJoyinglife2 жыл бұрын
@@NiNjaTurtLe697Sorry I don't have it anymore. I sold it a few months later. If you unscrew (counter clockwise) the idle screw until the valve lever stop moving then its all the way closed unless there's tarnish from sitting too long and then clean the bore with a brush. The idle needle is tapered so it gets thicker as you turn it in and that's what causes the lever to move. I usually just started with it open literally enough to slide a piece of paper through. Then add a little more air and go from sound of the engine a different throttle points to set the air than low/high fuel jets.
