Your video was definitely helped. I had OE error. Machine would not spin or drain all of the water out. I replaced drain pump because it was full of brown scum. Still had all of the same problems. In diagnostic mode, I noticed that the water fill indicator never moved from 255 even with drum 1/3 full. The pressure sensor was reading resistance in range. I took apart the lower drain including the air chamber for the pressure sensor and the air chamber was clogged. Cleaned everything up underneath, blew out the sensor hose and the machine works like new. Thanks!

After being a sucker for the OE error, I replaced the drain motor and main control board and it still failed. What is the value of the frequency and between what terminals. There are 3 terminals. Hey man, why aren't you being clear instead of giggling and mumbling to yourself.
@graywaveautodiagnostics93892 жыл бұрын
The value of the frequency is shown in the video. If you probe the two outside pins you will get the frequency just as I show at time 1:44. 23Khz seems to be when its FULL and 26Khz is when the drum is empty. You can see the frequency is in the KHz range at time 5:31 and you can see the value of the frequency through out the entire video. Each machine could be slightly different especially if you have a different model. How much more clear do you want me to be? Hey man, did you watch the entire video? If so, your question tells me you shouldn't be touching your machine

I removed your comment. Be more professional with your replies. I don't exactly remember if it is AC or DC however I do remember LG uses AC in many areas on the machine. I want to say it was AC voltage going to the sensor which would make more sense than 5v DC. Make sure the sensor is reading the water level correctly. Most people want more water not less. To do this, you need to put the washer into service mode which you can find in the video. The sensor should react to water level changes immediately. You need to monitor frequency first.
@alchemy12 жыл бұрын
@@graywaveautodiagnostics9389 AC is not supplied to the sensor. What is supplied is DC waves, i.e. pulsed DC, or high frequency DC or whatever term they use. The so called sensor is in interface with the low side on the module operating on 5VDC max. [In all essence what is supplied is pulsed high frequency 5VDC....] There is a feedback loop from the low side to the high side of module after certain frequency is reached as the output from the sensor. The high side supplies that 120 AC to the water valves.. They indeed use full AC voltage. You shouldn't play with these things if you don't understand simple operating principles... :-) But I recommend you do.

Correct. Many people I have seen don't test "loaded" circuits. In the field I have seen many, including a couple of my bosses, disconnect the circuit and look for the red led on the power probe when testing the power feed. Loaded circuit test is the only way to really test power and ground circuits. I agree with you there. In fact I could have mentioned that in the video. @jgray1523 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, the VCI needs a power source even when used with USB. If its plugged into the vehicles DLC (data link connector), then the VCI will receive power from the vehicle and you should be able to connect to it wirelessly or with USB. If it does not get power from the DLC then you need to supply power to it externally to be able to connect to it wirelessly or USB. I also think there was a place in settings in the diagnostic hub where you could make sure it connects wirelessly.

Its unfortunate, I had a 2005 Hyundai Elantra for over 10 years, sold it at 250K miles. That car was great. I'll go with a Toyota next time. On my 2017 Forte I used to have, I had to adjust the spark plug gapping from 0.45 to 0.30 to eliminate misfiring caused by the ignition coils not having enough voltage to sustain the spark over a large gap. I have a video on that somewhere, testing the ignition coils with an oscilloscope. The engine also drank oil and the valves would carbon up. Luckily Kia removed the GDI engine from their line up in 2019.

@@mykelahalston1690 honestly the older Kia and Hyundai are normally fine. Obviously time takes a toll on components and dealing with an older vehicle, you will have repairs down the road. My big suggestion, is to make sure to put money to the side for good maintenance. Do a drain and fill on the transmission every 50K miles, regular oil changes every 3K miles, change spark plugs around 100K miles. warn or faulty plugs are the leading cause of ignition coil failures. Fix any oil leaks from the valve cover or any other oil seals since if the leak gets bad enough and gets on other components, the oil can reduce their life span. Do a coolant system flush around 100K. Check the belts for excessive wear or cracking. Remember, only older belts crack due to polymer design. Belts from around 2012 ...... I think...... on up is when the manufactures used different polymers and do not have a tendency crack. basically, if the belt is not cracked, don't tell yourself its fine. If you do that, you shouldn't have many issues other than external components, such as maybe the alternator going bad, which happened on my 2005 elantra well over 200K miles. Maybe an oxygen sensor or another sensor. Regular oil changes will help keep the engine from burning lots of oil which ruin oxygen sensors.

Have you gone through the electronic warranty yet? If so, how has the process been so far?
@graywaveautodiagnostics93894 жыл бұрын
Kia would not warranty it. They were trying to blame the issue on the remote start which is completely false. Even after showing proof in the two videos posted. Anyone who knows how the circuits are connected, wired and function would know that is completely false. That was their way out of it. They mentioned since it was not a Kia remote start that it voids the warranty which is also false and reminded them about the law which I can't remember the name right now, that prevents them from voiding warranties. I reminded them that their "Kia Remote Start" is only an "Directed DS4 AutoMate" remote start system which uses the same brain as the Directed DS4 AstroStart remote start that I installed which, as an Authorized Directed DS4 Installer and an Advanced Electronics and Engine performance diagnostician, know how all the circuits function and know it was not the cause. HI There, Question: My unit did not come with an MSATA drive, but rather a conventional SATA laptop drive. I've been trying to use Macrium to clone the drive to a SSD drive. While the system does boot, I get an error message while it tires to load the hub and it refers me to OTC for support. Where you able to clone your original drive? Or did you use a different program for the cloning process?
@graywaveautodiagnostics93895 жыл бұрын
I was not 100% successful at creating a working clone. I think the boot would hang when trying to boot from the cloned drive. I don't think this had anything to do with the scanner itself, just that it was a bad clone. You may have to try a few different pieces of software to create a bit to bit mirror image of your current drive. Eventually I lost interest at cloning since I really didn't need to after unlocking the OS and getting it to run how I wanted. However I will be doing this at some point to my SnapOn Verus Pro. Upgrading the drive and installing Windows 7 or 10 on it instead of XP

If you’re able to get a good clone please share. I have a scanner that I’m trying to restore to factory setting.
@supwicha15 жыл бұрын
@@graywaveautodiagnostics9389 I've made I believe another discovery regarding cloning. I am able to create a bootable image that fully boots the machine and loads the diagnostic hub. It does give me an error message stating to contact support. I have suspected from the beginning that this is due copy protection of the drive. In my mind, with a 100% block by block clone, how could this be? I came up with the assumption that they are pulling sysinfo and comparing the serial number of the drive to what was registered with the unit originally. Going folder by folder, I found a text file, that as luck would have it, has the serial number that matches the serial number of the original hard drive. I edited the file on the cloned drive and booted the machine to no avail, same error. When examining the text file again, it was overwritten and the original serial number was again populated in the text file. My assumption is the serial is somewhere in the registry and creates the text file for some sort of checksum verification when hub launches. So in the end, the text file is not the file this is referenced, but rather created on boot, and if the serial number of the drive does not match that of the original drive, it will disable the diagnostic hub. I even purchased the same model of hard drive and capacity for this test. Really, my primary interest in all of this is to preserve the machine as it is probably inevitable that it will die. I did chat with OTC and they said that they will not use a customer supplied drive (of course) to restore software, but if in the event the machine died, I would have to pay for a new drive, and the service to restore it. I'm disappointed that as an end user, you cannot back the system up. I'm thinking about selling because of that.
@supwicha15 жыл бұрын
@@frogy6978 I do have a "good clone", sort of. It will boot, I'm just not sure it will work on your machine due to what appears to be a self-test that checks for the presence of the original drive serial number (from what I can tell from my testing). If you have a cloud account, I can send you an image, but I don't think it will work. It will probably boot, but will tell you to contact OTC for support with an error code. The file is about 27gb in size however.

@graywaveautodiagnostics93896 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. I sure can. I am not sure how much I would charge for it. It does take some time. I wouldn't expect a real quick turn around. Probably take me at least a week to get it to where it needs to be now that I have done it already. It took me over a month to get mine working right after and figuring out the tricks. We can continue further personal discussion via email: [email protected] Some issues I will note and you can decide if you still want to. 1.) I have completely updated windows 7 on mine BUT, this also means it updated windows firewall which regardless of what I do seems to interfere with the D-Hub when trying to communicate with the vehicle, so to remedy this, I just turn windows firewall off and it works just fine. 2.) Once in a great while I get an error upon loading the D-Hub saying something about a fatal error and D-Hub needs to close. Though after loading the D-Hub again it works just fine. I think this has something to do with Microsoft Security Essentials which I installed since I do browse the Internet with it. It seems to be very random and hard to pin point the cause. 3.) VERY rare times the D-Hub will freeze or go into a communication loop with the vehicle. I think this has always been a possible problem and not a new one. if the D-Hub or the entire Genisys freezes or is in a "loop" the "power button" can't be used like a power button on a PC which allows you to hold it down and force a shut down. I have been trying to change that. You end up needing to take the battery out OR use a wireless keyboard explained below. 4.) When setting the Genisys to "sleep" after X amount of time, the D-Hub doesn't seem to function all that great after sometimes. You may need to close it out and reload the d-hub. Performing this modification obviously opens up greater possibilities but could also induce other issues as this is still an experiment thats been going on for a couple months. Before performing the modification, I create a Disc Image which will allow you to revert back to the original setup. The best thing to do, is to actually purchase another M-SATA SSD drive (I can't remember what pin layout but will check) and I can perform the modification on the newer maybe larger drive. This way its a quick swap of the internal M-SATA SSD to revert back to the original setup if you ever decide you liked it better in its original format. If there is any problem with the D-HUB and you need to restart the software, using an external wireless keyboard like I linked to below allows for a quick remedy. "ALT F4" to close or "CTRL SHIFT ESC" to bring up task manager so you can force it to close. CTRL ALT DEL also works if you need to log off, shut down or restart. I think this has been a problem in the past with the Genisys touch though so I don't think its a "new" problem just existing with a work around now. I have done more tinkering since these videos. I have another video I need to put together which shows more. Hopefully I can get it together soon. The web browser in the Diagnostics Hub now opens Google Chrome which is leaps and bounds better. I also made two different accounts. One User account labeled "GrayWave" opens windows explorer with DexPot so I can switch back and forth between the Hub and Explorer. The other account I labeled as "Diagnostic Hub" which boots up the hub just as it would normally without the modification. Once you have access to windows explorer, you can change all the power options. I also now use a wireless keyboard which works great! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SIITZMA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can easily print, use MS Office, probably use a PICO 4425 Scope too. I don't have one but the software runs on it at least.
