I've watched my dad reset his radio. You will need a pen and there is a tiny hole next to the file knob on the radio and then press it with your pen. That would reset your radio.

Something very similar happened to me yesterday. It started normally, but when I connected my phone to the car- it just froze on main menu. With the radio square saying "Loading". When I turned off my car and got out- shut the door- the screen was still on and radio playing. Had to have my husband disconnect the battery for a min and started then it started working again. It's never happened before. I sure hope this isn't a 'thing' with this car.

It is a thing with the car having the same issues.. sigh have you had any other issues with the car?
@pattygirlak33 жыл бұрын
@@richerthanyou1000 I haven't, but actually some time after this incident I had to bring my car in to get updated. For some reason the screen computer wouldn't update, so Kia replaced the whole thing for free. But what was supposed to be a 30min job became like a 9 day job. In all fairness though, it was because of COVID and the finding and shipping the part needed. Overall, I really like my car- the look, the way it rides, extra features for less thank $24k! Best of Luck!

Do you want have any engine or transmission issues? I heard a lot of bad things.
@graywaveautodiagnostics93893 жыл бұрын
The transmission was replaced around 17K miles and either needs to be replaced again or a software update needs to be done. No engine issues at all. Well, only a couple times the engine did not start when it should have. I have 46K miles on it now.

@@graywaveautodiagnostics9389 would you recommend this car?
@graywaveautodiagnostics93893 жыл бұрын
@@mykelahalston1690 Not this 2019 model or their older models with the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engines. The 2020 was the same as well in the beginning. I do not know if they fixed anything. I had a 2017 Forte GDI and a 2019 Forte both with issues. After I get rid of this Kia, I will never get another Hyundai or Kia. Its unfortunate, I had a 2005 Hyundai Elantra for over 10 years, sold it at 250K miles. That car was great. I'll go with a Toyota next time. On my 2017 Forte I used to have, I had to adjust the spark plug gapping from 0.45 to 0.30 to eliminate misfiring caused by the ignition coils not having enough voltage to sustain the spark over a large gap. I have a video on that somewhere, testing the ignition coils with an oscilloscope. The engine also drank oil and the valves would carbon up. Luckily Kia removed the GDI engine from their line up in 2019.

@@graywaveautodiagnostics9389 yeah just got a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and I regret it. From what I’m hearing going to have the worst trouble with it. It’s fine now but the future I’m scared for, 90,000 miles on it.
@graywaveautodiagnostics93893 жыл бұрын
@@mykelahalston1690 honestly the older Kia and Hyundai are normally fine. Obviously time takes a toll on components and dealing with an older vehicle, you will have repairs down the road. My big suggestion, is to make sure to put money to the side for good maintenance. Do a drain and fill on the transmission every 50K miles, regular oil changes every 3K miles, change spark plugs around 100K miles. warn or faulty plugs are the leading cause of ignition coil failures. Fix any oil leaks from the valve cover or any other oil seals since if the leak gets bad enough and gets on other components, the oil can reduce their life span. Do a coolant system flush around 100K. Check the belts for excessive wear or cracking. Remember, only older belts crack due to polymer design. Belts from around 2012 ...... I think...... on up is when the manufactures used different polymers and do not have a tendency crack. basically, if the belt is not cracked, don't tell yourself its fine. If you do that, you shouldn't have many issues other than external components, such as maybe the alternator going bad, which happened on my 2005 elantra well over 200K miles. Maybe an oxygen sensor or another sensor. Regular oil changes will help keep the engine from burning lots of oil which ruin oxygen sensors.

I have had multiple problems with the radio. It has a habit of rebooting on its own while driving or even sitting in the driving way with the engine running. This particular problems has happened twice and the dealer avoids diagnosing the problem. I have also had the CVT transmission replaced at 28K miles and now at 36K miles the brand new transmission will need to be replaced again for surging and shuddering. Really not happy with this car.

Have you gone through the electronic warranty yet? If so, how has the process been so far?
@graywaveautodiagnostics93894 жыл бұрын
Kia would not warranty it. They were trying to blame the issue on the remote start which is completely false. Even after showing proof in the two videos posted. Anyone who knows how the circuits are connected, wired and function would know that is completely false. That was their way out of it. They mentioned since it was not a Kia remote start that it voids the warranty which is also false and reminded them about the law which I can't remember the name right now, that prevents them from voiding warranties. I reminded them that their "Kia Remote Start" is only an "Directed DS4 AutoMate" remote start system which uses the same brain as the Directed DS4 AstroStart remote start that I installed which, as an Authorized Directed DS4 Installer and an Advanced Electronics and Engine performance diagnostician, know how all the circuits function and know it was not the cause. From reading in Forums, there have been other cases like this too. Unfortunately, they could not duplicate the problem, obviously. I honestly can't wait to pay this car down and trade it in for a Toyota!

@@kevinrey3969 Thanks. Mine has the Automatic CVT. Kia trys to say its not a CVT and that its an IVT which is completely false. Its just marking because a lot of people are afraid of CVT transmissions. IVT transmissions are in tractors not cars. A standard transmission should have any issues. You could be lucky.
