What a beauty! 3:45 - I think including ball bearings in the joint between the floor and rotating axis, would make such a difference! Without friction and drag, this idea would optimize the process that could be easily done as well with only half of men needed to spin that heavy axis. I know that tuners on the cello and double bass are designed the same... The axis is not the same width, but alternates, like a tapered extruded circle... like a cone. The joints are fixed when submerged, but when raised from the shell, the spin is possible. Was ball bearrng machine element developed so much later?

Bonjour, sauf erreur de ma part et malheureusement seule parmi les répliques, l’Hermione a été victime de cette maladie du bois; se pose donc la question de la mauvaise préparation du bois de construction ou de la mauvaise qualité des peintures antifongiques spécifiques au milieu marin. J’aimerais avoir une réponse car je suis peiné de cette mésaventure qui a touché ce merveilleux bateau.

Soooo much fun to do if you are a woodworker,work with your hands! I could havelots of fun everyday doing this; love tall ships! These folks actually kno how to sail a square rigged ship!! Crew of Constitution should train with these folks as they don't have the skills the frogs have!!

It's called a game. We kindly tease each other, the English destroyer was in exercise with the French. So you see, no panic. It's a nod to our ancient wars at sea. In 2019, the frigate l'Hermione crossed the Solent, and you know what? It was in complete friendship!

@@ms-lazuli7435 Thats the point it wasn't an English destroyer it was a British ship. There is no such thing as an English navy. Hugely disrespectful to those who serve in HMS Dragon or who have faught and died from the other nations of the UK, NI, Scotland and Wales whist serving in the Royal Navy.

Ok, that's true for the British Navy. But there should be no disrespect, the naval world is full of respect and mutual aid. Here it's just humor in memory of old wars at sea which killed many British and French people. On the Hermione there are French people, but also British people, Americans, Canadians, and Africans. This replica is a vessel of sharing and peace and certainly not an object of disrespect.

Ce n'est pas la mérule mais oui, il a été annoncé à l'assemblée générale que toutes les pièces infectées ont été enlevées. Les mauvaises langues vont devoir remballer leurs blagues sur les champi s'il veulent être à jour ! :D

@@aerim641 Tout à fait à l'heure actuelle les entreprises missionnées par l'Association remettent en place les nouvelles pièces de la coque. Les zones qui avaient été abîmées par les champignons ont été identifiées et l'objectif est de restaurer la frégate tout en apportant des améliorations pour éviter que ce type d'avarie ne se reproduise (précisions ici fregate-hermione.com/sauver-lhermione-pour-renaviguer/).

Disons qu'avec les conditions de travail du XVIIIe siècle et l'emploi des bagnards, le rythme des chantiers n'était pas le même. C'est fou d'imaginer comment ça devait fourmiller !

Jadis, ils étaient des centaines sur un même chantier, bossaient 7j/7, 12h/jour, et on pouvait sortir une frégate complète en 6 mois.

This ship will be used (1200)tones of timber I think .I was so interested in this ship building , because my father was an owner of a ship . In the years of(1956) my father build a ship ,which was run in the water ways of Myanmar. Thanks you.
