Was that really her singing or lip singing ? That voice sounds like Debbie Boone.

Was this really just acting, or was it all real, and they decided to put it to music? (unless the music was playing at the restaurant they were at, and they decided to record it, and turn it into a song)

The Hardly Worthit Players released two LPs on the vaunted Parkway label. In addition to this Bobby Kennedy-like variation on a theme by the Troggs, they also did similar honors for Donovan Leitch's Mellow Yellow, as well as a Bob Dylan-like take on White Christmas. Sadly, by early 1968, the Parkway label had imploded, and the Hardly Worthit Players and their label mates (Chubby Checker, the Olympics, Bunny Sigler, etc.) found themselves having to relocate to other labels in short order. Grateful that this clip with the great Kate Smith has survived.

The biggest casualty of Parkway's failure was Bob Seger, who lost his best early single, "Heavy Music": kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZTCoJWhmbl1r7c .

@@oneeyedman99 That was certainly part of it. In Bob Seger And The Last Heard's case, not just Heavy Music, but Persecution Smith, Vagrant Winter, the Christmas novelty Sock It To Me Santa and the magnificent East Side Story. But all of those Cameo 45s were leases from the Michigan-based Hideout label, which issued a few of them originally. Thankfully ABKCO has kept them all in print on an anthology collection. But Cameo and Parkway had to do a lot of reshuffling when the label imploded in early 1968. The Rationals, the Pack, Question Mark And The Mysterians and Terry Knight as a solo artist all ended up at Capitol, as Seger did. Evie Sands spend a productive season at A&M. The Ohio Express, the Five Stairsteps (who recorded for Cameo's affiliate Windy C label) and Chubby Checker went on to work with Neil Bogart at Buddan. And the New Colony Six soared upon signing with Mercury. Actually, the New Colony Six saw the writing on the wall and got their Sentar label out of its arrangement with Cameo in the nick of time. Musically speaking, we are all the richer for all of their endeavors.

I still remember sitting in the dark theater watching this scene, the words, the melody and THOSE VIOLINS coming in! The music went right through me! Never forgotten that moment and where the movie is definitely dated, this scene lingers to this day. The release of the pop hit with a different singer was a pale imitation.

I'd like to nominate Jerry Keller as Best Actor for his faultless portrayal of an orchestra conductor in the movie _You Light Up My Life_ 😆. In fact, I'd like to nominate *all orchestra conductors* for lifetime achievement awards in honor of their convincing us all that they actually are making any difference at all to the orchestra's performance 🤣
