I don’t want a Dutch oven they are heavy and expensive and they chip. Impossible to clean I hated mine. I had a $300 dollar one and a $50. Dollar one and they were both hogs in my kitchen. I gave them away gladly. I want a way to simply cook it in the oven or mini oven. In another covered dish or other method
@kathyfann24 күн бұрын
Possibly a cast iron one would be preferable. It’s already black and I never had a cast iron skillet chip.

So does it take a quart to do one pie?
@HilltopintheValley24 күн бұрын
It depends on the size you want your pie. If I'm doing a small pie at home I'd use 1 qt. If making a tall thanksgiving pie I'd use 2 :)

Aw thanks! I do think it is much easier to make a roast exactly the way you want it if it is thawed BUT it's so helpful to know one can do this and it can still taste good! Wish I'd known sooner too.

Is the recipie same for any fruit?
@HilltopintheValley2 ай бұрын
Good Question. There is a little difference between fruit. The important part is making sure the amount of lemon juice correct to the needed acid level. This is why I used Melissa K Norris's strawberry jam recipe instead of just adapting mine for the blueberry recipe. Could it work? maybe. I'm just not knowledgeable enough about acid levels to give the go for each specific fruit.

Hi Krista, loved the live stream and the ideas for scones in the bbq. It’s too hot to have the oven on in the house here, but soon it will be cool enough to bbq. I love the einkorn recipes as I’ve just discovered it works for me. Thank you again!

Thanks for the helpful video! Some questions: Do you preheat the dutch oven with lid on or off? When you are letting the dough rise, do you wrap the dough in the wet towel, or just cover the top of the bowl (you showed both)?
@HilltopintheValley2 ай бұрын
I like to preheat both the lid and pot. I rise the dough in a floured bowl or bread banneton ( rising basket).

Thanks Note I did deliver 3 babies in 36 mos. so my heart is with you😇 on the positive side...they have: playmates, the care is the same, they grow together and the hardest is affording the teen expenses and poof!! They leave home. That you must plan for with your husband. God Bless you

We started with Dr. Turner of Restorative Wellness in PA. His wife Ashley has a beautiful and educational instagram as well as gorgeous cookbooks. We used supplements like biocidin to battle coinfections and supplements/ homeopathy like h2Absorb, quercetin and resveratrol to help with taking edge off inflammation. Glutathione was needed for him during winter months. We just finished treating our house for mold too. Currently we do NAET (research this one) and are looking into neurofeedback. I also have to say on a public platform, I'm not a doctor so check in with a practitioner before starting anything because every kid is different. It's a hard journey for sure! Best to you!

I soooo agree with all of these things! Music lifts me up! Comfort food is soothing on a rough day. Candle light and watching a fire is definitely mood changing. I've been working on resetting my circadian rhythm since retirement, and 6 months in, it's finally working. No screens at least 1 hr before bed. Dim the lights, read a fun, light reading book, and prayer. ❤

Welcome back Hilltop friend! What is your favorite habit from 100-years-ago to implement? A few of mine are working with my hands baking and working in the garden outside year round. This has really helped (even in the winter!)to get as much sun as I can. What's yours?

I enjoyed your first video on this topic and was delighted to see you'd made a follow up. Coincidentally we brought home chickens the day this video was posted. I've wanted chickens for a long time and we finally live in an area that allows them. I'm really looking forward to getting to know them, enjoying their company and eating healthy on their fresh eggs. My great grandmother has talked about having chickens on the farm where she grew up, so I feel it is also a way to reconnect to my roots. Even just preparing for the chickens created opportunity and motivation for my husband and I to spend time together outside working with our hands to build something towards a common goal and that was also enjoyable.

Absolutely! How fun it came out right when you got them. Hope for eggs soon!

Well said; thank you. I had an assumption that because my ancestors came to America from England and Scotland, I was of English and Scotish heritage, and it wasn't until someone who grew up in Ireland (presumed Irish) found his ancesters in Germany and Poland, made me open my eyes to genetics, rather than where generations lived. Love learning new things!
