I am really Blessed when I say I had the opportunity to watch Pandit Ravishankar Ji test sitar in the shop of Hiren Roy in Kolkata’s Rasbehari Avenue. His sitar was always carefully handcrafted by the master craftsman. It would be a typical Sunday morning around 9.30 or so. This of course before he migrated to USA, the year sometime early 60’s. Then of course I had the pleasure of listening to him along with Ustad Allaha Rakha & Ustad Ali Akbar at Shanmukhanand Hall in Mumbai.

There's nothing like being immersed in deep DEEP meditation and suddenly being soul raped by an ad
@hansschetselaar1657 Жыл бұрын
Yes indeed, the ads are really annoying during these 3 masterpieces
@andymacgregor162 жыл бұрын
That’s 4 adverts in 20 minutes, this is desecration of Ravi shankar, by pure greed

Great music 🙏 A request - no problem with advertisement. But keep them 1. Beginning 2. Between two songs e.g. between Jog and Ahir Bhairav. You can even remove the skip option. But please don't keep advertisement in the middle of a song/raaga. Thanks 🙏

Can this album be ordered on CD? I don't see it available anywhere.

These French lads were/are onto something. I ordered Harpe Celtique recently, thinking it a companion volume to Stivell's Renaissance, but it seems they've done a fair few remarkable things. I particularly like the pure tones that I'm hearing here. Maybe they get some inspiration from medieval/early music. Or maybe they have a connection with Breton/Celtic music that's stronger than anything that I hear coming from the land of insane leprechauns that I've inhabited since birth and probably will continue to be until....and maybe if I get to a retirement age I'll sit in the open air on a remote Scottish island, hear noises like I'm hearing now, and somehow feel "right then, I think I'm home now", or else i'll vegetate in suburbia with declining health until...

I'm listening these Three Ragas from more than 10 years and I never, never, never felt bored. I'm always feeling that I discover something new in my heart, in my spirit every time. Is the first time in my almost 68 years old, when I'm listening, from so many years, suddenly 3-4 times daily this jewel of Indian music. These ragas helped me to go deeper on the spiritual path, to feel deeper The Vedanta path. I'm sure about the fact that, there, in the divine world, this Rishi named Ravi Shankar is protecting our souls.

In early 70s, he played the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. After about 5-10 min. of tuning up, half the audience applauded. Ravi said gently: ''If you like the tuning up so much, I am sure you will like the concert even better..'''

He did that at the Concert for Bangladesh with George Harrison.
