My buddy went up and asked if I wanted anything. I asked him to get a 4-pack of every can. I didn’t even know what he was coming home with. When I cracked the double Nelson, I sort of forgot about my prior experience with it from pre COVID. From the crack of the can to the first sip, I was like wow. This is insane. When I went to check it in, I saw that I had called this the Nelson GOAT. I also stand by that still. It’s the best expression of Nelson I’ve come across.

I tried it and thought I'd love it. But I think because I tried a lot of their beer in their 4oz sample pours, I got palate fatigue so it didn't make much of an impression. I do think I would love it on a fresh palate though. [I did pick up a couple of 4 packs, just of their other stuff]

Really wild that you didn’t like the base stout, Darwin said it was one of the best vintages and he’s a legit Cicerone. And the $24.99 for a bottle I mean that’s normal price for any adjunct stout. Top shelf stouts like Side Project go for $50 a bottle or more. $25 seems normal to me 🤷🏻♀️ Bourbon County has never been a thick beer, that’s relatively new to Stouts that was started by Toppling Goliath and Side Project. For the midrange price I don’t think many breweries comes close to Goose Island with Bourbon County.
@jsenigagliaКүн бұрын
Dar will tell you he’s got BC bias, lol. And being a cicerone doesn’t mean anything. We all like what we like. I had a bottle of Founders BA Imperial Stout recently and it absolutely shits on BCBS. This year was so muted. I’ve gone back and watched old vids on previous BC vintages and there aren’t many where them being thin is talked about. They’ve always had a solid body. This one doesn’t. I’m glad you enjoyed it though. That’s the beauty of beer 🍻

That is cool information about Sam and his brother. Had no idea! As for this beer, I actually bought the mixed four pack with four of the Grand Prix Speedway Stout variants when I was in Ohio recently, and also bought one for Kyle (No Hype), so I can't wait to get into 'em! I typically try to shy away from reviews of beers I haven't had yet, but had to see what you thought. Bummer the maple didn't come through, but glad to hear it's still tasty! BTW, the four pack was $16.99, which blew me away. Such a great price point! Great review, good sir. Cheers!
