Maybe I’d missed it, but you didn’t indicate having cooling issues before any of your Mods. I have a C6 and have not encountered problems regarding cooling, even in City stop/go!
@ChaseFarrow4 күн бұрын
@@yesh3279 There were a couple of videos preceding this one, as well as several that came after. The C5 and C6 air flow is different. C5s a complete bottom-breathers, so as soon as you add a front lip, they start overheating. You can put a bigger radiator in them, and it will help, but the real problem is poor airflow. Some people are able to get away with it, but living in Texas where we routinely see 105°F+ during the summers, you can't have a lip without doing at least some cooling mods.

Curious why you decided not to do the 2 other vents on top of the wheels? Is it looks? Or is it because you already did the side vents and that would take care of the "pressure"? Btw I followed your guide and did the side vents and love your content!

@@ChaseFarrow I am planning on making this a Track / Street car as well...but ended up purchasing the 2 wheel vents from track-spec ...but not sure if I like the look of all 3, the center looks 🔥 though. Sorry I'm going to ask this again, But in your opinion do the fender side vents do somewhat of the same thing as the top vents on the hood above the wheels?

Incorrect. Those vents are for engine bay and reduce turbulence at the undertray. Laminar flow down the body sides rather than over pressure of the engine bay. Now you have dirty airflow under the car. It is not a "Dumest design flaw" it is a highly calculated and measured function proven in the wind tunnel and track years before you decided it didn't make sense.
@ChaseFarrow2 ай бұрын
@@scoutdogfsr No it's not. The C5 was not wind tunnel tested during development. It was cobbled together by four guys in a shed. I don't know where you people get the idea that the C5 was some kind of aerodynamic engineering masterpiece. I love this chassis, but it just wasn't. What little effect the factory vents would have had were incidental at best. Not to mention, the laminar flow alongside the car that you mentioned was pretty much non-existent from the factory because of massive out-washing from the wheel wells. This is an issue with every single closes wheel car. This does fix it outright, but it does help it significantly. The underside aero profile on these cars is a catastrophe from the factory, which is one of the reasons the C5.R and every other track built C5 has most of the same changes I've made, and why GM made so many changes almost immediately after this. Dozens of privateer teams who have spent the last two decades developing these things, (and actually do have wind tunnel data), all say you are absolutely, unequivocally, undeniably wrong. I invite you to check out companies like Trackspec, ElectronSport, 9LR or many of the others that build this stuff. Their wind tunnel data is available to the public.

Great vidoes. Long time gan here. For autocross every time you shift, it's .5 seconds and I think i saw you all the way in 3rd. You should be able to stay in 2nd the whole time with the low end torque. Also when on the 2 step you are spinning for a long time - same thing for track cross. Actually i think thats where i thought i saw you in 3rd gear gor a short amount of time. Recently upgraded my built c5z to c6z and is a gamechanger especially on the big tracks. Keep up the content.

@@JS-pe9xk Hey! Thanks for checking out the video, and I appreciate the support! Yeah, there's a couple of spots on both the AutoX and the TrackX where it was tough to decide whether to be in second or third. If I had more than two runs in the TrackX, I feel like I would have got it completely figured out, but unfortunately, one recce and one quick run just weren't enough. As for AutoX, second was definitely the way to go, for sure. It just took a couple of runs to really settle in. We ended up finding the 2-Step's sweet spot on Day 2, though. 4,000 was a bit too aggressive, so we pulled it down to I believe 2,900 the second day. Those C6Zs are crazy on a track. Being able to run such wide tires would be a massive game-changer!
