I hope I don't get nasty remarks for this comment, although surely comments can be negative or positive. After listening for nine hours, I would like to comment. I found the book having interwoven stories, which related to each other very little, annoying and time-consuming as I had to go back and forth to find out which story I was listening to. Not easy on KZbin. The stories were so slightly related to each other, I think huge chunks of very tedious narration could have been cut out. Liked the male narrator's style, but the narrative of Samantha Bond, which was very drawn-out , was like having bullets shot continuously at you. Her way of speaking is too emphatic, with no breaks to make it less harsh. ((Sorry, Ms Bond, I really like you). The book lacked any sympathetic characters, I really didn't care who killed whom in either story. The love interest part with Andreas seemed to have been thrown in as an afterthought with no apparent feelings from Susan. Anyway, who cared about her love life, I certainly didn't. I was very disappointed in the book.

9 hours. The Good: Flawless narration. Excellent recording with no rando music interjections. Plot is interesting with a unique cadence. (It doesn’t ”feel” like a typical citizen-PI ) Characters are well developed with just the right amount of adjectives (LOL). The bad: 1.5- 2hrs of this story are confusing interjections of the victim’s writing. NONE of his story bits are germane to the actual story or plot line. It adds nothing except time & makes it hard to remember the actual story.

This is an epic‼️ I've never listened to such a long story. If I'd known the author at the start instead of almost at the end, I wouldn't have listened. I like lighter mysteries ‼️ BUT I was hooked after half an hour. It took me 2 days to listen and I'm sure glad I did.❤Best murder story I've ever heard and I've heard hundreds! Nothing will ever be the same‼️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just once I would like to hear a story that isn't full of demented and horrible people in a village in old Britain. Ugh!

Interesting but with very many similarities with Agatha Christie's Poirot stories. Inspector Chubb, an assistant called Fraser, a foreign detective with a flat in central London...

Ok. I don’t mind. Not every writer is original , some are simply craftsmen who pull Together well known bits and pieces. The end result is sometimes quite satisfying. I

The son was 16 at the time of the war, and was sufficiently successful in disregarding the whole affair, like it was just a nuisance for him , cuz daddy was gone long. 😮 I really dislike this guy.
@ritamartin478212 күн бұрын
It makes me laugh at the high regard for the son that is expressed by everyone in the village. Until he has pity taken by a friend who gets him a job he's absolutely not qualified for, and wait for it, gets FIRED! What a great surprise! LolhaHa!
